Britain's King Charles has cancer, per numerous news stories tonight. It was discovered when he underwent treatment a week or so ago for an enlarged prostate. Buckingham Palace hasn't issued many details at this time, so we don't know what type of cancer he has, how serious it is, or what treatment is planned for it.
Anticipating the reaction from some of you to this news, let me say this:
I'm not a particular fan of the Royal Family, but I've always felt sorry for Charles. This poor guy has never been able to live a normal life. He's been in a bubble since he was a kid, unable to do the things the rest of us take for granted. No drives in the country...no motorcycle trips...no going out with a friend and quaffing a few quietly at the local pub. He can't get on a cruise ship, or fly somewhere and rent a car to do some sightseeing.
His whole life has been scripted, orchestrated, regimented, so that one day he could assume the throne...and now, less than two years after his coronation, he's got the Big C...wow.
Prayers and best wishes for your recovery, King Charles...good luck.
