Does anyone expect this bill to do any better than the background check bill? Do any of the Democrat Senators up for re election next year think that their constituents are going to like them voting for a bill like this?
Does anyone think that the House will take up a bill like this, even if it passes the Senate?
Ammunition control is a restriction on the Second Amendment just as control of firearms is.

Yes I do. They are not going to tuck in their tails and just go away. As the Pres said this is just the first round. He did not get what he wanted (despite how the vote went) and he cited the reason that those who favor guns are better organized and better financed I thought that was how Politicians won?

He is going to get his way some how, don't not if he can pull another executive order but it is not over my any means.

Seems there was an article bout this some time back. The ammo manufacturers made it known that instituting some sort of marking ammo with s/n or some tracking ID number would be cost prohibitive for them. So what kind of control are they proposing? Making people register to buy ammo, get licensed to buy ammo? Extra tax on ammo? Lets see the degree to which they want to control it before we go off half cocked!

The do not need to go as high tech as tracking markers. Just background checks on all reloading components and ammunition.

We had to register All ammo buys for ammo back when the 68 gun control act was enacted. It soon went away in the early 70's. I do not see this going anywhere. I think it is more of another ploy to make ammo buying harder for us with all the hording.
Now Obama with a worthless execative order will do something. But that will be short lived with unfair commerce suits. It won't end until he declares himself dictator or he is out of office.

I have been saying that all along. There is no way anyone is going to pull all 200,000,000+ guns away from the public but make ammo unavailable either by taxing it into non-existence or tying up the manufacturers of ammo and components with huge government contracts. No ammo and in a decade you would have 200 million interesting paper weights. No need to break the bank just make them useless.

Come now, do you really think the president thought he could get a gun control bill to go through the house of representatives. So what was that all about? Parading those poor Sandy Hook family's out and waving the bloody shirt. Was it really to get a Universal Backgrounds Check Law? I contend that he never hoped to actually get a new law. What he wanted was to get a bill past the senate so it could be sent down to the house where it would surely be defeated. That defeat would be used as political ammo against the "heartless" republicans in the mid term elections. What Mr. President didn't plan on was Harry Reid not delivering the Senate as he was supposed to. That is why Mr. Obama had such a temper tantrum yesterday blaming the failure of the measure on a few gun nuts intimidating his poor senators while 90% of the public wanted the law. If 90% wanted it it would already be law but the truth is more than 90% think that gun control is not the answer and fewer than 10% believe gun violence is a problem in the general population. Despite what you hear on the news the American public isn't as dumb as the anti gunners portray.
What a shameless display and shameless abuse of grieving people when you know the outcome is not going to be what they are hoping for, just to gain a political advantage 18 months in the future.

As far as I know the 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms has only been upheld in court for the actual arms. Their next ploy could be to try and control the ammo. Although most sane people know that you can't keep and bear arms without ammo. I wouldn't put it past the Lib-tards to try the back door method of gun control through ammo control.

It's so obvious that ammo regulation will reduce gun deaths. If people don't buy much ammo, then they won't practice. If people don't practice, then they won't hit their target. Makes perfect sense.

I am SORRY to say I was right. I been howling about this for 10 years. The American people would not approve of repealing the Second Amendment, and would vote OUT any who voted for it.

How to get around this? Ban foreign ammo imports, that won't be hard, then tax every round sold.

Same result but the politicians still get re-elected.

I been stockpiling ammo for 8-10 years a little at a time. I shoot every week and can continue to shoot, at this pace, for another 10 years. It's also a great investment. Ammo NEVER goes down and if you need cash, as I have a few times in the past just sell 1K.
