Know the facts

I like S&W very much.
However, if they screw the pooch, they should be spanked, HARD.
Remember, companies will produce **** and screw the customers-if allowed to do so.
Just look at the absolute garbage US auto makers put out from the mid '70s to early '90s.
It took Americans dumping the big 3 for Japanese imports to get them to stop screwing the pooch.

I've thought about getting a Ruger SR762.
However, I already have an L1A1 that would make the SR superfluous.

Have been thinking about getting an M&P in 5.56 poodleshooter.
Trouble is, the price difference between mil-spec and non mil-spec is more than I would like.

Bummer you wrecked the gun.

To the first point.... Information on M&P10 proprietary parts is found with a simple Google search. In about 5 seconds I found "SWSupport" has been posting on the subject since early last year on that other forum. Hi, Most of the "major" components on the M&P10 are proprietary to S&W. (Barrel Extension, Upper and Lower Receiver, Bolt and Carrier, Receiver Extension, Buffer and Buffer Spring, Ambi-bolt and Mag release).

As far as repairs... S&W repairs a lot of guns. If it is their determination that the rifle cannot/should not be put in service with just replacement of the barrel, then it might not be a bad idea to listen to them.

As far as S&W printing warnings in red... The last M&P product I purchased was a 1522. It included a Safety & Instruction Manual that prints in big bold underlined red letters BEWARE OF BARREL OBSTRUCTIONS. Is that no longer included?

ps This section isn't the place for links to sales ads. Deleted from OP.
