I recently bought an M&P Shield 9mm, and have put around 300 rounds through it thus far. I was cleaning it last night after being at the range for a while, when I noticed there was a crack in the plate on the muzzle end of the recoil spring.

My dad had owned several Smith & Wesson revolvers when I was growing up, and I remembered they always had really good customer service. That was one of the things that inspired me to buy this particular pistol. I called them up today, expecting to have to ship it to them to have them look at it. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised when they offered to just send me a new spring. The total time I was on the phone: about 5 minutes and 42 seconds according to my phone. I should have the new spring in about 10 days. The customer service was even better than I had remembered!

My thanks to the folks at Smith and Wesson. I am glad to be back in the Smith and Wesson family.

That's how companies keep good customers.

That's good for you. It's also good news for the forum members who've been on the list a while, waiting for new RSA's to arrive.

Thanks for posting, and good luck in the future too. :)

Wondering if there is a problem w/ 9c RSAs that I don't know about. Do I need one due to an updated design?

Hi everyone - just wanted to confirm that I did receive the new RSA today. If you've been waiting on one, keep an eye on your mail.

I took my Shield out to the range today and put about 60 rounds through it - no issues. I was actually having an issue with a failure of the slide to lock open about every 30 - 40 rounds. That seems to have been resolved with the new spring. My thanks again to Smith and Wesson.
