Lack of Service with my insurance.

Yesterday there were storms with high winds and lots of rain.
Recent rain had likely saturated the soil.

While in the drive arriving home 5:15, a tree service truck stopped and it’s driver called to me.

My attention was directed to a fallen tree in the back yard.
No longer upright and erect, it lay across the party line fence.

Called my insurance office.
Answering m,achi9ne gave me office o=hours, but did not take messages.

Googled and called the Claims number.
Clerk took information, gave me claim number, and adjusters phone.
He could not tell me about my coverage.

Called adjuster - machine gave me office hours but does not take messages.

I will have no help until after the weekend.

Lots of damage in the area - many trees down.

Fully understand that tree services will have higher priorities to deal with than my "tree down on fence".
e.g. Trees on or in houses.

Any insurance company I have dealt with sends you a copy of your policy/s. Possible you still have it, if so study up.

Good luck.

After three years of telling my home insurance guy, that my rates were getting to high
and this years bill and not letting me call the shots or reduce the fee with policy changes, that I wanted,

I fired him, when I received the higher bill, in the mail.

Had a big limb come down on my 6ft. cedar fence. Insurance wouldn't pay because the fence was over 30yrs old.

I recently quit after doing property and casualty insurance for

21 years. If the fence is the issue they should address that based on some restrictions. Your issue is not a priority if there was a big storm with much damage, but they will get to you eventually. If the issue is removal of the tree the company will only pay for debris removal on your property if the tree blocks access to your property. That's just how it is.

Most insurance companies allow downed tree removal without adjuster okay if the removal is needed to prevent further damage. Be sure to photo document the tree as it lies and any damage before doing any cutting or trimming. A tree down on a fence may not merit much urgency to the insurance company unless livestock or access is involved.

In Texas my insurance guy told me If my tree falls on my fence into my neighbors yard or house , their insurance pays. If their tree falls on my property or house my insurance pays. Why? I don't know, Act Of God? Last big Ice storm (three weeks ago) my large oak split and half fell across the fence and into my neighbors swimming pool. No damage on my side, His insurance paid for the removal.
