Lanyard loops

I was just looking at Numrich, and they sell lanyard loops. But - they have two different ones. For the 1917 and for everything else.

They look the same, but I suppose they could be different sizes.

Did Smith actually use two different types, or has Numrich lost it?

I could understand if they had "1917 and Victory", and everyone else. Flat military finish versus shiny blue. Or possibly N-frame and K-frame. But they list the Victory with the Outdoorsman and the M&P.

I recently ordered two of them from Numrich, one for a victory and one for a 1917. When they arrived they were identical both parkerized

Differences do not appear to be based on size:

"There are actually THREE verified varieties, and I suspect FOUR are possible.
1- Originally, swivels have a pin through the lump or boss to keep the loop centered. It is ground flush. Swivels were always case hardened, but don't expect a lot of vivid colors.
2- June 1, 44 Engi. Order eliminated pin- "new method makes pin unnecessary". I suppose that means there is a partition in the hole for the loop and the loop is folded in. If anyone has one with no pin, tear the loop out and tell us please.
3- Dec 20, 44 Engi Order changed Case colr to sandblast blue because case colors were not uniform."

I have seen some RHKP butt swivels that appear circular as opposed to the more familiar oval shape. Would these have been installed by S&W or was it possibly an after market add-on?

They are factory. I ordered one.

I noticed two variations when I was hunting for one for my early 1917. They both look pretty much the same, however the thickness of the end (the part that goes into the frame) vary.
The first one I tried was too thick and didn't go up into the frame far enough to clear the recess for the retaining pin. The second one had a thinner end and enabled the retaining pin recess to be totally accessable.

Just my observation.

The one that didn't fit, may have been for the Colt 1917.
