I got an email from Powder Valley advertising large rifle primers for sale. A bit pricey for me, and never heard of the brand before, but if one really needs them, well your decision.

"For sale" - at what price?
I regularly get email ads offering Ginex LRPs for $85-$90 a brick, IF you buy them 5000 at a time. But I'm still not buying at that price.
When I see other sizes of primers going for $60-$65 a brick in the same ads, $85 a brick for the LRPs still seems like gouging to me.
I mean, they aren't THAT much more expensive to produce. They should be priced about the same as LPPs.
JMO, and I may eventually regret it....

If I was short of American-made large rifle primers, I'd get a thousand of these (along with some other primers and powder to offset the hazardous fee) and give them a try, chronographing and comparing to other large rifle primers I've used.

The price shouldn't break anybody who enjoys shooting and handloading. You'll have primers in hand instead of talking about having primers in hand and you won't fret over the cost if they work well.

During Covid, LRP were more plentiful than SPP. I bought many thousands at Sportsman’s Warehouse for $23/1000. Now all I see is SRP and SPP, which are $89 to $130/1000.

Not around these parts. And when they did have them, they were doled out at $7 per sleeve with a two sleeve limit.

Awhile back someone here posted about Cabelas having LR Match primers at a "reasonable" price. Grabbed 1000. Tried a few yesterday. Those are HOT primers. Backed the load down a full grain, very low SD.

Forgot to mention these were at the Kelso, WA store. Gator’s Guns had some similarly priced, but they came from folks who had liquidated their personal cache.

Lately on components you have to keep a sharp eye on the webs, and shop shop shop.

Great places to find components is sometimes estate sales,

Good luck on your searching,

I don't think the good ole days will ever come back

Hey thanks for the information OP, some of these primers just arrived on my doorstep. :)
For those of you who are still unaware, .450 Bushmaster ammo went from using small rifle primers to now using large rifle primers, probably because they knew I would get a new rifle chambered in that caliber and would not have any LRP's on hand.

ETA: Still cheaper than live ammo $$$!

Our 44th President convinced me once and for all to buy reloading components when you find them.

The verdict is still out on this brand of large rifle primers IMHO, but if you’re down to less than 1,000 I say go for it. I recently bought a batch of primed 7.62 NATO brass because I fear future supply might be zero, and that will allow me to use LRP on hand for other cartridges like .270 etc.

I would readily pay $130/thousand for primers if I needed them. That is still a lot of fun for $130.
I like this guy's way of thinking!
My friend got a BCA .450 Bushmaster upper and even though I really couldn't afford one I got one anyway. :D
As long as these primers light off the powder and I'm able to blast plastic bottles at 50 yards away I'll consider that money well spent. :)
Eating is way overrated anyway.

I like them so far, they have been reliable.

BTW if you're reloading for the .450
Bushmaster I suggest you get one of these.

It certainly is money well spent. If you enjoy shooting, realize that the price of everything has gone up in recent times, primers included. Those stubbornly waiting for cheap primers will be giving up reloading entirely if they stay true to their conviction.

Why did you not include the price in your post?

The brand is White River Energenics and the price is $109.99. I think it is a government supplier on other things.

I lived through that .22LR shortage and it's unknown what the future holds for availability of LRP's so for now I'm not too worried about it. :)

Hey you guys midway USA just notified me that they have Remington large rifle primers in stock.
They are $109 but like the .22LR shortage, it didn't matter how much money you had if the stuff wasn't available.
