Largest / Most Powerful gun you've fired

Civil war cannon, brass cast, 3" bore. If I remember right, it was one of 12 made in Nashville. There was no ball in it, but we used 3/4lb of black powder. The cannon's owner said that more powder could be used but since we were shooting blanks, that was all we needed. I pulled a string and BOOM! It was loud as hell and blew the leaves off a nearby tree.

Mabe not the biggest cal., but a mod 71 win with steel butplate in 348, kills on one end and cripples on the other. I also shoot a 62 cal-20 ga smoothe bore muzzleloader that will bring tears to your eyes if you load er up.

A Browning Ma Deuce 50 caliber for a long gun and a S&W 500 for a handgun. I missed out on shooting a Lahti 20mm Anti Tank gun at the Eastern Oregon machine gun shoot a few years ago. They ran out of ammo before I got to the front of the line.

Just wondering what was the largest / most powerful or even most fun gun everyone has ever fired.

Me... nothing exciting. .44 Mag but I'd love to hear from everyone else.

handguns-- 500 S & W, 45/70 contender

Rifle--- 50 BMG, 470 Capstick

Shotgun -- 10 ga.

Ruger Blackhawk in 44 Mag. for revolver
Marlin XS7 in .308 for rifle
1911 in 45acp for semi-auto, althought I find .40 S&W to have more felt recoil.
Remington 12 Gauge pump for shotgun

With my Rhuematoid Arthritis I am not a big fan of recoil.

Desert Eagle .50. A guy in the next lane had just bought it, and he was so excited he just had to offer it to me and my shooting partner. He didn't know us from Adam. Of course we took him up on it. I won't be running out to buy one.

.458 Win Mag Pistol

Elephant cartridge from a handgun .458 Win Mag with 510 gr. Bullets in my Competitor Corporation single shot Pistol, 10” barrel (similar to the Magnum Research Lone Eagle pistol). The picture shows the 510 gr slug on the left, next to a 44 mag cartridge in the middle, and the 458 cartridge on the right, 5,000 ft. lb of muzzle energy, 510 gr heavy steel jacket (magnet sticks to the slug), designed for elephants and Cape Buffalo, chambered in my Pistol. Yes it hurts.

20 mm Gatling gun.
Ok! It was a remote fire.
I used to have 338 Mag.
I flinched so bad I couldn’t shoot it from a bench.
And I did have not one but 2 LH Mauser 3000s in 375 H&H.
Sold both before I ever shot them.
Probably a hangover from the 338.

Probably, and this is going to sound pathetic, a 3" magnum slug from one of my shotguns.

Thompson Contender chambered in .45/70. As my old grandmother would say that is just too much sugar for a dime! I fired it the first time out of ignorance. I fired it the second time in the vein of "getting back up on the horse that th'owed me"
There won't be a third time unless something very very bad is about to happen to me. I mean it.

The first pic is a graphic demonstration of the difference in the standard .45acp and the .45/70. If you are wondering about the recoil of this round in such a light fire arm...well, there's yer clue.

I don't care how big and strong you are. I don't care which stance you use. You fire this beast and you will be takin' a couple of steps backward.

Most fun semi - Shield
Honorable mention semi - Taurus because of the SA trigger.

Most fun carbine - Uzi, My Kel Tec Subgen 2000.

The only Black powder gun I've shot was a .50 cal and it was fun. Made you take your time because the loading was lengthy.

Ha! Even this old lady has done that! 3 shots, 2 deer down.
with a 12ga Winchester.

Hahaha yeah. I need to fire a 20mm anti-tank rifle before I die, or at LEAST a wimpy 14.5x114mm anti-material sniper rifle!!

Many years ago got to shoot a Lahti 20MM. As far as a real shoulder fired hunting type rifle... A 600 Nitro out of a Holland Double rifle. Very hard to get ammo for back then but the fellow let me shoot 2 rounds...I think he told me they were the middle loading but don't remember the load. If shooting at a head of dangerous game I doubt it would have been too bad...but I don't need to shoot one again. I also had a Contender in 45-70.... it was a bit violent.
