After comparing both, I went with the G43. I don't have any particular brand allegiance. It just fit my hand better and was more comfortable for me to conceal and shoot than the Shield.
IMO, most modern (especially polymer) guns are well made and reliable. It comes down to what you are the most comfortable with and can carry/shoot the best. That is the reason why I am hesitant to recommend specific guns to anyone if they haven't had a chance to hold and shoot them. It comes to to what works the best for you. For me, and for this particular application, it was the Glock.
BTW-I am not a Glock fanboy. This was my first.
