Larry Vickers take Glock 43 vs. Shield

After comparing both, I went with the G43. I don't have any particular brand allegiance. It just fit my hand better and was more comfortable for me to conceal and shoot than the Shield.
IMO, most modern (especially polymer) guns are well made and reliable. It comes down to what you are the most comfortable with and can carry/shoot the best. That is the reason why I am hesitant to recommend specific guns to anyone if they haven't had a chance to hold and shoot them. It comes to to what works the best for you. For me, and for this particular application, it was the Glock.
BTW-I am not a Glock fanboy. This was my first.

-Just about every other single stack 9 is more compact, so what's amazing about its size?
It's like stating that a particular car with the worst-in-class fuel efficiency is amazingly fuel efficient. Then saying that it's more fuel efficient than an SUV.

to pick at what someone else posts instead of contributing
anything meaningful this will be my last post on this thread.
And like others of your ilk you fail to acually comprehend the
meaning of the written word and try to put words on paper
for others that you can then pick at. I'll try to make it simple
enough that you can understand; the 43 is smaller than I
expected it to be. I like it's size. I couldn't care less about
the slight differences in size between various compact single
stack nines. It fits into my jeans pocket better than the gun
that has been residing there. That's good enough for me. I
don't need to make any other size comparisons period. I
like the simple rugged Glock design. Now those are simple
statements you should be able to comprehend. So if you
still feel the need to pick at this at least choose one of
these simple remarks without any more "creative" writing.

Yep. Well, not so much Glock's attitude, but something along the lines of those that fit into the description of the Koolaid thread.

Might just be me, but I think pointing out the size differences between the Glock 43 and guns actually in its category is more of a contribution to this thread than whatever the angry guy said.

G43 and Shield are both fine pistols. It all comes down to personal preference. The positive point here is that BOTH pistols add choices to consumers for a real 9mm that is able to be (though some will not, or may disagree) carried in the pocket. In the end, that is a good thing for consumers.

As to that gun oil discussed, there are all sorts of choices out there. Personally, I have never found a good reason to change from Hoppes and Break Free. On the other hand, what the world needs now is either a COMPLETELY non-corrosive black powder substitute that measures EXACTLY the same as the real stuff and a cleaning solution that really will do away with rust issues for black powder shooters. Yes, I know that very hot soapy water works just fine on any gun, but I for one have a certain prejudice against using it on a firearm. I have done it with no ill results, but it takes longer, etc. If you think I am too gentle with my firearms, ok.

This thread is not about oil, but that was an interesting article. Here is FireClean's response to those allegations: FireCLEAN Defends Product, Publishes statement on ?CanolaOilGate? - The Firearm Blog It's worth it to note that at no time do they deny that FireClean is just canola oil.

Basically, this means I can buy $300 worth of FireClean for $4 a the local grocery store. I may have to try some Crisco.

EDIT: One more thing. Using a video of smoke to determine how well a lubricant works is the most ludicrous test I've ever heard of.

I try to stay out of glock bashing threads.However I have posted my experience with both Shield and Glock 43 before.When I do my part shooting the guns side by side.There is little difference in group size.
The Shield is a little softer shooting.The Glock is what I am required to use at work.So I compromise on my time.I carry Shield on hip and Glock in pocket the best of both worlds.
