I've got a Shield 40 with a Lasermax that I bought in Dec 2012. I went to the range last Monday and noticed that the laser was all over the place on the target. I thought I had bumped it or something so I sighted it in again and a couple of shots later it's way off again.

Tuesday morning I called Lasermax and was told that there is a known issue with the unit for the Shield and they had just come out with an updated version. They sent me a new unit with a return label to send the old one back.

So, those of you with a Lasermax, if you're having issues with it, you might want to give Lasermax a call.

Thanks for the information Red Ryder. I have one on my Shield 9 and noticed it can wiggle a little. Is that what you found?

They have replaced my laser on my Shield 40 three times already since April of this year due the laser blurring out and enlarging to the size of a quarter (@ 7yds). I would never rely on the laser in a SD situation and only purchased it for dry fire practice. I don't even use the laser at the range. I would have removed it from my Shield, but all my holsters are for the Lasermax attached and I don't want to purchase new holsters right now or remove the laser and have some some play in my current holsters. Good luck with yours and I hope they get it resolved for you.

lazer

I never depend on electronic sights, they can go out when you need them the most, learn to use the sights. or stay on the porch.

No, this is not a guide rod laser. The problem was the aim point was moving after firing a shot. I put the new laser on today but I don't know when I will be able to get back to the range to try it out. I thought about just taking it off but all my holsters have the space for it (as someone above mentioned).

That didn't really answer my question, but it was not well phrased. What I should have asked is, what model of Lasermax do you have?

This is one problem with lasers for handguns; good ones are expensive. A Crimson Trace laser will run over $200 and many are over $300. But, they are quite good and rarely do you hear of complaints.

I hope the new one works out for you Red_Ryder. Lasers are great practice tools and can help with training trigger control.

Ehhh I have the lasermax centerfire laser on my shield .40.

I want to say I notice what your talking about. At the same time I can't notice too much diff.

Anytime I shoot with the laser on I am still looking down the sights. So...

I don't really know
