I could look this up but I thought someone here would know it off the top of his / her head. I just remember a couple of scenes and would like to know the name of the movie.

The movie is about a young guy, reasonably clean-cut, who rides a motorcycle and is a bit of a loner. Somehow a member of a biker gang, either through negligence or malice, breaks the headlight of the young guy's bike. Although strongly discouraged by the other members of the gang, the youngster is not one to back down and insists on being compensated or getting a replacement.

After some scenes of physical violence, the leader of the gang comes to respect the young guy and has a gang member go get a headlight. The guy brings back one that obviously was hastily removed from some other bike, shoves it into the hero's hands and departs with great speed.

I thought that was an accurate depiction of how an outlaw biker gang would handle the discharge of such a responsibility!

But I can't remember the movie. It may have had Nancy Sinatra in it, but I may be mixing several of these biker exploitation movies together. The most memorable scene with NS is where she has occasion to remove her shirt at some all night biker beach party. But as I said, maybe I remember that scene from another movie.

So anyone remember this one? No looking it up unless everyone is stumped! :D

On the subject of motorcycle movies/series, I may be late to the party on this'n but we are now into the 2nd season of Sons of Anarchy. The deeper into it we get the more it seem like The Sopranos on two wheels. Both powerful stores well produced, well directed, well written and well acted.

Both stores center on criminals, murder and mayhem. I normally require that for me to enjoy a movie I need to be able to identify or at least sympathize with at least one of the main characters. Not able to get there on these two but I find them irresistible none the less. Kind of like passing a bad accident on the highway. Not a pleasant sight but you just gotta look....

Then came Bronson with Michael Parks?

Haha. As a "ute", I identified with that character back in the day, as I rode my 1969 Honda CL90. (which never went more than a few miles from home)

I must like shows with loners, as I thought a later such series was also pretty good. "Stingray".

The first movie you are talking about is "Hell's Angels on Wheels" with Jack Nicholson as the guy who gets his headlight broken.
... John
Thanks John!

That sounds like the one. I forgot Jack Nicholson was in it, but think I do remember the guy was called "Poet".

I can't remember how good it was so I would like to see it again. Like I said, I mainly just remember how the outlaw biker fulfilled his obligation with an obviously stolen headlight.

What kind of bike did Poet ride? In my hazy memory, I'm thinking it looked British.

...

The other movie is "The Wild Angels" with Peter Fonda and Nancy Sinatra.

John
I thought it just might be "The Wild Angels" or "The Born Losers" or one of those.

Poet rode a flathead I think, I'd have to check my DVD. Maybe a Panhead. It was an older Beater in black with wide handle bars. Adam Rourke was 'Buddy', the Prez of that H.A. chapter. He was in a lot of Biker Flicks. Hells Belles was one of his best.

Nicholson's scooter. Panhead? Clipped from preview of Hells Angels on Wheels. Grainy huh?

“They called him Wobbly ‘cause ha could hardly walk, but he would ride his chopper through the gates of Hell.”
-Newspaper ad for “Hell’s Angels on Wheels.”

There is a local club for whon Red Wings weren’t good enough. You had to get Green Wings. The club is still around. Dunno if it is still a requirement.

Kinda corny, but a lot of super cool old bikes.

HAOW & The Wild Angels are 2 of my favorite biker films. Love em! Also Jack Starrett was in a gazillion biker flicks. He almost always played the Sheriff that harasses the Bikers. He is in Hells Angels on Wheels, Nams Angels, Born Losers., etc. etc. Also he was the Deputy Cop in the original Rambo., the one that gave Stalone the night stick across the back in the jail scene...he was a bit older then. He also played 'Gabby' in 'Blazing Saddles' The old crusty town guy....standing on top of a store front with a telescope...he yells...'The Sheriff is a n....BONG!!' 'what'd he say?' 'He said the Sheriff is near!' 'NO! Dag Gummit! stamps his foot..'The Sheriff is a n...BONG!! Haha!!

BTW that scene from HAOW above was shot in Bakersfield CA. I think.
