Late night Horror Movie Hosts

I met Elvira back in the '90s. She was at some sort of expo at the Civic Center in Birmingham AL. I was in uniform, on my way to way to work later that day. I assisted a Jefferson County deputy who was escorting her around the venue. Even with heels, she is not very tall.

I'll make no further comments; don't want to get dinged by Lee. :D

You guys are a bunch of young'uns. I go back into the 1950s with Vampira, mistress of the dark.

OK here in MI. around the Detroit area we had a guy called the "Ghoul" on I think Friday nights and on Saturday mornings we had "Sir Grave Ghastly" The Ghoul had a side kick , a rubber frog called Froggy. He would blow him up with fire crackers....I think one time he used a real frog and got into a lot of trouble..... Now Sir Grave Ghastly would open his show with him slowly opening his casket and sitting straight up like a vampire.

I grew up in the New York market and watched Zacherly every week in the late 50's and early 60's. Never could get my fill of Lon Chaney horror classics. Here he is playing cards with his never seen wife "Dear" in her coffin.

Does Count Floyd from Second City TV count? Monster Chiller Horror Theater showing Dr. Tongue's 3D House of Stewardesses. Classic.

scrolling thru this thread I remembered watching a horror show when i was a kid in the 60's in Milwaukee. But had to google what it was as a little reminder lol: Nightmare Theater with Dr. Cadaverino.

The doc's name didnt ring a bell after all these years but the show's name did. Of course i'll fall in line with many others who noted Elvira as well.

;)

Somebody he'p me out here. I remember a weekly tv horror show (not twilight zone or outer limits) That had an obnoxious little puppet they called "THE CRYPT KEEPER''. He'd always make some comment relevant to the story that was about to show and the let out a most irritating laugh. IIRC the shows were usually pretty good. At least I thought so at the time.

What was the name of that show?

Watched Zacherly as well. Several clips of him over on You Tube.

In NJ in the 60's we watched "Chiller Theatre". Or was it DOUBLE Chiller?? I can recall watching the original "The Thing" when I was maybe 12 ,while my parents were out to a family wedding. I slept with my Winchester M-67a Boys rifle that night! LOL.

But add me to the Elvira camp. She was THE best.

I met Zacherle at Chiller Theatre here in NJ several times. He just turned 98. WWII veteran.
KYW Channel 3 in Philadelphia had "Saturday Night Dead with Stella" 1984-1990.I met her at Chiller Theatre. Also met Elvira.

Before he moved to NYC, Zacherle, who went by Zacherly on late night tv there, played Roland in Philadelphia in the late 50's. Roland, pronounced Row-land, always had a pet amoeba with him. Roland also made it a practice to insert himself into the horror movie as to interact with the characters.
