Snagged these yesterday.
First picture is of a particularly aggressive Anna's male. His primary goal in life is to chase everything out of my yard. He eventually gets cross with my attempts to photograph him and flies to the neighbor's yard.
Next two pictures are of another male Anna's. This one is more cooperative. In the first picture he is singing. The second shows a behaviour I've never seen before, flaring the gorget feathers. I know the Costa's species does this when displaying to females, but I've never seen this with an Anna's. Makes him look crazy.
Next up is a what I'm 99% certain is a young male Black Chinned Hummingbird. He flew to the feeder next to me while I was snapping the crazy looking fella. The Anna's could not see him so no fight ensued. He eyed me up for at least a minute then decided I was no threat and had a good feed.
The last shot is one of those blind luck shots with the flash of one flying up to a feeder. It is a female of some type.
Enjoy
