Law Enforcement at 31?

Go for it sir! If you meet all of the legal requirements, only thing left is your health and psych. As far as health, when I retired from racing, I opened a gym and had a regular customer base of L.E.O. and those new on the job and I got them into shape.

My point a personal trainer and maybe a nutritionist is a small price to pay for such a good career. That is if your out of shape of course.

Another item to consider, is that I have learned from the training of these officers, deputy's, troopers etc., many departments are only accepting applications from college grads. At least here in Florida, I can name several departments that wont even give you a application without a Bacheolors Degree in Police Science.

Best of luck sir, you are still very young, 26

26ford, I am a little out of shape, no big deal, I know what I have to do there. Here in Southern Colorado, most require at least 2 semesters of English comp. just to get in the academy, beyond that the more you have, the better. I work for the railroad now and after the academy I will have a job as a BNSF Railway Police Officer, retirement will stay with me, just doing a craft transfer, but I have to go to an academy on my own.

Thank you Mr. Faulkner. After all these posts from current and retired police officers, I no longer feel that I am too old. I hope all goes well with the initial process and I can get accepted into the academy. I have no criminal history and no psychological issues. When I got out of the Army, law enforcement was all I wanted to do, unfortunately the stars had not lined properly and I feel they have now and it is hard not to answer the call. I am far from done serving. I am nervous, but I am ready to give it my all. Best of all, my wife supports me 100 percent and is giving up being a stay at home mom so I can do this.
