I believe that what we have heard about is a single digit percentage of what has actually happened / been stopped, if that much.

Small towns don't generate the "TERROR FACTOR" that a strike on a large city would generate.

Besides in small towns every one pretty well knows everybody's business and what they look like. Any stranger would automatically draw attention. In Texas if you don't walk the walk, and talk the talk, and wear a certain type of clothes,they watch you pretty close.

Don't let those small town Bubba's in bib overalls, brogans, and a golf ball size of Big Red in their cheek fool you. In one of his pockets he usually carries a .45 and a big case knife in the other. Plus his shotgun is in his pickup.

Besides the small towns have a " Spit and Whittle Club" that sit outside the stores on a bench. They are better than video surveillance. They may be old, but most are veterans, old cowboys, or just cranky old geezers. They become very hostile and react immediately to threats. Most of them are armed also.

When I was working for a NASA contractor during the first Gulf War, we had an organizer for the Iraqi Baath party working for us as an engineer.

I guarantee you there are ISIS types here.

As to why more of them haven't made their play, it's anybody's guess. Mine would be that our values are so utterly alien to them that they just can't get their heads around what to do. The Japanese had the same problem in WWII.

I'd laugh my *** off if they got jacked, robbed and murdered in my old neighborhood in Chicago.

So many small towns seem to be oblivious to the dangers of such attacks. Just look at small town or county fairs... large gatherings of people in a very public place.

I have believed for some time that one day these kind of attacks will take place in rural America. The casualties may not have the kind of numbers that would occur in a big city, but a few incidents scattered across the country would have a devastating impact.
 
We all expect something to happen in large citys. A huge part of us dont live in large citys. If a small number of events happened in rural areas the rest of the U.S. would be on alert. Trouble is in some other events the powers that be tried or downplay or hide the fact that the perps were muslim.
 
They are here and have been here for years.They go by "Al-Fugra" or "Muslims of America".

Their main strength is patience.With all of the events in the Middle East going on I would suspect that it's just a matter of time before something happens here.

I also just finished "Day of Wrath". I don't agree with everything in it, but right about now it's probably a "must read" and will probably make you head for the range, upgrade your tool box, or at least think.

Back around 1980 or so I got involved in apprehending a Palestinian member of the then very nasty PFLP. He was of course, here as a "student" and fraudulently married to some USC bimbo to stay here permanently. I suspect that he still has nightmares of me taking his door down and my 12 gauge. He had a file 2 inches thick. The first wife bailed but he found another and last I knew he was still here.

Did INS know or care what he was up to? They did not.

Do I think DHS know or care about these guys now? I think not.

As my sainted mentor, Travis B. Martin of the Great State of Texas, often said, "It ain't for real, son."

If you are cursed with a vivid imagination like I am--pay attention.
 
All this is very interesting but I have some questions. The video showed DPM machine guns and stinger missiles. Where did they get those weapons? The MG isn't available at the local gun store. Don't think anybody but folks with a federal license have any. Aren't those MG's kind of rare in the US? The Stinger could have been stolen from the army though.

Why would they want to ship them out of the US and back to their home country? I would think that arms of that type would be quite common there. If they were really terrorists then why not use them here in the US where they could do real damage?

Something doesn't seem quite kosher to me. Course I could be way wrong. If I am please set me straight.

Did anyone else see the news about two cops being stabbed yesterday in front of a police station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia?

They were about to question a "teen" who had been doing various terrorist -supportive things. He pulled out a knife and stabbed both cops, one very seriously wounded. (Yes, Australia has very restrictive knife laws, ha! And strict gun laws, too.)

One cop shot this punk dead. He was originally from Afghanistan. Australia, like the US and the UK, has let entirely too many people immigrate from countries that should not be allowed to send immigrants here.

A member from New Zealand and I compared notes on taxi drivers recently. Like here, the drivers there are overwhelmingly from backgrounds that may well provide a number of terrorist "sleepers."

Oh: in case you missed it on the news, Australian police also apprehended quite a number of terrorists last week who were planning to commit random beheadings around that nation. Most were in Sydney and in Brisbane.

We need to remain calm. This reminds me of my prostate cancer it's not the to worry yet until we get the bad news. It's time to relax till a pearl harbor thing happens. We must remain vigilant.

You don't have to fly an airplane into a building to create a very real Terror event. Two – three actors in several shopping malls, at the same time, randomly shooting, stabbing, throwing fire bombs, or throwing acid on folks will cause a panic and terror.

Now if that could be repeated, two or three times, in different parts of the country that would cause a panic that would put the World Trade Center attacks to shame.

I for one will be very careful when doing any holiday shopping.
