Can anyone decipher the maker codes on this holster? I think the "95" means the style, the "B" that it is Border Tooled and the "F" is that it is a Flap Holster. And finally the "9" is the caliber and the "L" denotes Luger. Is this correct? Or am I stretching a bit?

That is a puzzle. 95 is the holster model number-a flap holster with standard border tooling. Normally B stands for basket weave, F for floral carving & L for rawhide edge lacing, obviously these don't apply to your holster. The size stamp for Luger was LU. The group size code 9, used after WW II until 1963 when the 3 digit size codes became standard, fit Colt Police Positive frames, H&R & Iver Johnson revolvers & S&W kit guns & the Regulation Police. Your holster looks like it was made for an auto; you might look inside for clues like impressions left by mag release buttons or safety levers. If it was made for a revolver there will of course be an impression left by the cylinder. It doesn't look long enough for a 9" barrel but photos are deceiving sometimes. Long way of saying I'm stumped-I think BF L is esoteric code for the gun the holster was made for but it's not coming to me at the moment. Sometimes I sit up in bed at three in the morning & think "of course! BF L stands for...." But that just illustrates how much I need a life outside of guns & holsters. It'll come to me, maybe.

Sorry for the late response, I thought I had subscribed to this thread. Anyway, I stuck a Hi-Power in it and it is a perfect fit. Maybe the "B" denotes Browning? Still curious if it really was made for the HP. I have racked my brain as to what the letters could mean.
