I'm shooting a 657 41mag. non fluted cyl. and getting some lead on out side of cly. I'm useing 215 hard lead with WN 231 6gr. Not enough powder? Other rev. fluted no problem Very hard to clean away lead the size of pincil lead

I would check the hardness of your bullet. 231 is a relatively fast burning, powder, and the .41 mag could easily do well with a slower burning powder. I don't load for the .41, so I'll let those who do recommend the best powder to use. Unique is slower, and doesn't burn as hot, but does not meter as well. I would think 296 would work, and does meter very well. It does have a pretty good muzzle flash though in most revolvers. 4227 does not, but is a stick powder and again doesn't meter too well. Accurate 7 and Accurate 9 both work well in 44 mag, so may woek well in the .41.

Lead deposits on the outside of the cylinder are not an uncommon situation, even with very hard cast bullets. The softer the alloy, the worse the problem. A small amount of the lead vaporizes and then solidifies on the cylinder.
Some solvents and cleaners are better than others at removing this buildup. Corrosion-X and Kroil are two. Also, once clean, a light coating of Corrosion-X will make cleanup after a shooting session easier.

If you don't want to scrub it you can dismantle it and soak it in Kroil for awhile. Cleanup is a breeze then. A friend of mine puts it in a Tupperware container he ripped off from the "wifey"!

try and see if all cylinders line up with the barrel forcing cone mite be shaving the bullet and blowing back

Corrosion-X has a website. Just Google it. At one time they would give a free sample.
Kroil is available at Brownells, Midway and other large online supply houses.
I would try Kroil to get the existing lead deposits. It will creep under almost anything and loosen the stuff if you give it time. Same goes for bore fouling. After your done cleaning, give your guns a light coat of Corrosion -x to help with future cleanup.

I have found that I have been using 4227 in my 41 more and more, thought I do use 231 often. Either one works well for me
