Ran across this clippping some months ago on fleanbay and put in my watch list. Was brrousing recently and enlarged the photo and realized the revolver was a 3.5" RM/NRM so I sent an offer. This was from a 1941 Popular Mechanics.

One second does not sound very fast. World record is .208 including reaction time. McGivern fired five shots accurately in 4/10s of a second. Guess that did not include a draw or reaction time.
On this deal sounds like the timer started when the G Man started his draw. So with reaction time would be over a second.
Would be a nice thing to add to your Registered Magnum paraphernalia.

A difference with the Don Mundon comparison is that the agent starts with his hand on the time, then draws and fires double action and not fanning a hammer with his off hand.

At the Masters International Shooting Championship, held for over 20 years, the action shooting stage there were numerous competitors whose 1st shot (from the surrender position), would be in the .200 to .300 of a second. Doug Koenig would consistently be in the low .200's and he was the overall winner numerous times.

I think one second for drawing with a business coat on is quite acceptable. I sued to practice with my speed rig and then revent back to an undercover mode with real world leather. The difference is quite noticable.

Jacob Adolphus Delf "Jelly" Bryce. When I worked at the Albuquerque Division we had a display of Delf Bryce...he had been the SAC there at one time. I passed pictures of him every day. Incredible gunfighter.
