Lee Factory Crimp/Cast Bullet Modification

Hi warder, and welcome to the real world. People seem to think that if you put a sized bullet into a case and then run it into a carbide sizing ring to squeeze it down to a smaller diameter, that the bullet will be unaffected. All it does is make the whole process of slugging your throats and bores totally useless.

Having a fourth die so you can seat and crimp in two seperate steps on a progressive press is a good idea, but that will usually eliminate the need for a "factory crimp die" itself.

Hey guys, I fixed my Lee FCD the other day. When sizing my larger cast .44 rounds it squeezed down the brass resizing the bullet. I read a post on another board about a guy fixing his so I went the same route. I took a 10mm nut driver and a hammer, placed the FCD in a vise, with the stem pulled from the top and the crimper out I inserted the 10mm driver from the top and smacked it with a hammer and the carbid ring came flying out. Now I can use the die and adjust the crimp as needed without resizing.
