LEO Question? Who carries.................

My #2 son is a California Highway Patrol Officer and they are issued S&W 4006s. I believe its a TSW model. They just received new pistols and he bought his old weapon, also a 4006, for $150. (Non TSW model). He wouldn't trade that S&W for a bucket full of H&Ks. Of course his bug is a Glock 27.

She's a PC5906 and on my hip right now as we gear up for a search warrant. :)

I did the grip. For me, it works better than any aftermarket grip I've tried. Thanks.

You are welcome. My father was a police officer for 26yrs and carried a S&W Model 59 for about 20 of those years. I grew up shooting it. Stay safe and watch your back!

If I get on with the dept I am in process with, I will be using my 4003. I would have to supply everything. I have a Safariland 6280 holster for it as well.

Qualified with a 3913TSW, PC 9Recon, PC 945 4", PC 945 3.75", PC 5906 4" and will add 4003TSW, 4026 and 60-9 soon. I carry all that I have qualified with and the choice is usually dictated by the duty assignment. They always turn heads whether on the qualification range or duty assignment. I am also qualified with Sig P229 in 357 Sig, H&K USP 40, and Glock 23 & 32, but usually prefer the 3rd gens. I like to be able to suit the pistol to the duty assignment.

I carry a 5946 by choice. Although at about hour 12 on my feet at the Greenwich Village Halloween parade last night my right hip was begging for a Glock.

Whew! How do you keep up with all that? Are all of those annual qualifications?

I only allow myself to "qualify" if I shoot acceptable groups at 100%. If I am not comfortable with the groups, I don't carry it. Lately, I've tried to cut down on the variety of pistols I carry. Presently, I am qualified with my PC5906, 686SSR and M36 flat latch. I have qualified with my CQB45, 686-2, PC9, M&P 9, and Glock 19 but don't carry them.

No on the annual qualification question. I usually qualify with the Glock, Sig and H&K annually along with one or two of my S&W 3rd gens. That is 4 to 6 different pistol qualifications annually. Only one is required annually for duty, but I like to be qualified with whatever I am carrying whether on duty or off duty.

I carry a 5906TSW with the INTEGRAL rail machined into the frame during the summer, a 4006TSW in the fall and spring and a 4563TSW in the winter.
