I am now a full time resident of Vermont. I retired from Law Enforcement in Florida. Having difficulty finding an Individual or Agency that will conduct the annual LEOSA Certification. I contacted the State Police Academy and they provided me a spreadsheet with the names of all State Instructors, but it is a difficult task tracking down each of them. Just inquiring if any Forum Members in VT can provide any information or assistance?
Thanks, Sixgun100

I'm not in Vermont, but my local Sheriff's Office does LEOSA quals for everyone, including folks who retired from out of state departments. I'm a retired Fed and they're happy to do mine. Maybe check with yours.

Same here. I've been qualifying with mine for several years now.

Thank you for the responses. I have tried my local range and one Sheriff’s Office with no luck. I’ll try another one. Thanks again!

I hear you, I’m a retired Fed, found one place way Upstate NY that would qual Feds. No luck in Pennsylvania, still looking. Locals don’t like retired Feds….

St. Louis County PD sets up several dates a year for retired feds to qualify. My local Sheriff would also do it, but I like seeing my old coworkers, and we usually hit lunch after and reminisce.

The RSO’s claim those days are the second scariest of the year, closely behind armed security qualifications . . .

I'm in a similar situation. I suggest talking with the local police chief/sheriff (not a deputy) and asking who in the area can do it for you.

I retired from a MA PD and found out that NH qualification is very difficult to find. Only active NH LEOs can do the retiree LEOSA qualification and many PDs prohibit it for "liability" reasons.

I go back to MA and get qualified annually. Meanwhile I'm certified to qualify other MA retirees or MA residents who retired from anywhere (Fed, MPs, State or local PDs).

Local gun shops should know, especially those who do CCW classes.

This jogged my memory. OP should talk with the owners of Parro's Gun Shop in Waterbury, VT. One of the owners or the owner's Son is a police officer and likely to know (or can find out who/where LEOSA can be run for retirees). HOME | parros

Thank you for the suggestion. I have reached out to them on two occasions. Both times they said they are working on it, but they do not offer it, at this time. Thanks again

Try this office at VSP, the Office of Professional Development. They are located at the Police Academy, but they are not affiliated with the Police Academy.

Office of Professional Development | Vermont State Police

The list of instructors the academy provided is likely your best option, but VSP might let you take part when they are certifying their retired members.

What county are you in? I'm a PA LEO who does LEOSA quals, but I'm currently off from work due to cancer fight. MPOETC has a list of instructors by county that are approved to do LEOSA. Whether or not they will agree to qualify you is up to them.
