The very nice UPS man delivered this little beauty Post Office (pun intended) about an hour ago. I have wanted one of these for about 35 years. It is one of the guns put together from in stock parts and shipped in 1978.

And yes it will be shot, just not much and never carried or stored in leather.

That bluing looks so fresh I think it's wearing off in your hand:D

All kidding aside, that M&P is about as perfect as they come. Beautiful case colors and nice stocks. Congrats! Bob

Great looking gun, glad to hear you're going to shoot it some and not just put it away. I worked 32 years for the post office and a model 45 has always been high on my want list. There's actually four of them on an auction site right now, the most I've ever seen at one time.

Glenncal1,

Is there a serial number on the cylinder and barrel? If so, do they match the grip frame serial number? The Jinks letter says the gun was assembled from parts and I am looking at a mismatched pre war I-frame that I would swear is factory original. Just wondering if there is a precedence for S&W guns coming out of the factory with numbers that don't match.

Your .22 is drop dead cool, by the way. Thanks for the pics.

Wher are they posted on gubroken I cant find them?

BD-that is a nice gun with box, if the one Fugate is selling is any indication yours is worth $$$. I am happy with my 4" got a bunch of K-22's in 6". I would not kick a 6" 45 out of the safe though :)

Edit: I thought it was Fugate, but I don't see it on their site. I think the 6" was for sale through Cabelas (again dont quote me) and someone like Fugate bought it and had it for sale for around $2500.
