This cabin is in a ghost town I had read about 35 yrs ago. The author was cagey about the exact location as it's on private land and I never found it. At one point I buried my 4x4 off of the side of a trail in the snow (side slope and mud cleats) and spent the weekend trying to get it out of there. The missus was pissed! (I was close) A few years ago I was looking at a topo map and there it was! Grabbed my gps and bushwhacked through the trees for 1 1/2 miles for some pix. Shortly after that I came across an article about the town with some old photos

This is my back yard in the summer time. It's kind'a white with snow right now! There are 24" Rainbow trout in the pond and yes I allow an occasional fly fisher person in. I don't fish myself but I do enjoy having them back there. Please click on the picture to enlarge.

My back yard is 19'x19' and half of that is concrete. Life in a condo! Living on farms 80% of my life set me up to be an outdoor guy. So I bike in warm weather and walk parks in winter. But my poor wife has to still work, so I take her for surprise picnics, and long drives in the country coming home from church.

It is so easy to get busy and resent all the time a back yard takes. But I can guarantee you will miss it when it's gone! (teardrops on my keyboard)

We have lived in many far flung places, but home will always be Bensonhurst Brooklyn.

My younger siblings and I, in our driveway pool.

This is my brother's 1st birthday party in the backyard, facing the back of the house before the porch was added. Half my face is visible to the left of the hat worn by the boy in front. The girl in front to the right was my best friend. Her husband took me shooting the first time.

Sold the Brooklyn house in April this year, but this is the pool area in front of the garage as it was last fall.
Edit: Do you see the awning over 2nd floor patio, above the neighbors garage to the left? That was my maternal grandmothers home, where she lived with two adult daughters and their families. We'd call out to each other across the back yards. Almost all my extended family were within 6 blocks, including many first cousins. My youngest Aunt, 94yo, still lives on that street behind my old house.

We don't have an honest-to-goodness back yard. We live in a loft apartment in the complex we manage, with just a small strip of land in between us and the estuary of the river that runs through town. We have a deck overlooking the river, and consider it to be our back yard.

So here are three photos that I've taken from our deck, and two more that are within about 15 minutes of here:
