Hey all,

I collect pictures of firearms, all kinds of 'em. I love beautiful guns of any kind. One of the things I like to see is custom guns. Naturally the favorite is the 1911, but there are plenty more platforms for beautiful work. The Hamilton Bowen, Jim Stroh, Andy Horvath, MagNaPort and LOTS more turn out some gorgeous work that are in reality museum pieces that become heirlooms to be passed down to generation after generation.

Sadly, I have not had the funds to get any customizing done on any of my guns. I have to enjoy pictures. So I thought I'd ask and see who else likes customized handguns, especially S&W Revolvers.

If you've got some custom pieces, how about posting and telling about them and letting the rest of us enjoy the beauty of them.

Let's see 'em.

Thanks

And away we go...

Let's start with Alan Harton's work. Bowen and Stroh to follow.

A 45 Colt on an Old Model 357.

A 38 WCF on an old Flattop Ruger.

An Old Model 44 Mag Super Blackhawk Bisley.

An Old Model 357 conversion to 44 Special.

A 41 Special built on an Old Model Single Six.

Another favorite 38 WCF.

A 5" 44 M29-2.

My Gary Reeder Classic Model 29-4 3" Special. This revolver was customized by Gary Reeder in 1989 back in his Sarasota, Florida days (the same year S&W issued this limited edition of 2532 revolvers). This run was shipped from the factory with Pachmayr SN-GR grips, but I replaced them with these Ahrends Tactical finger groove cordia wood grips. I'm in the process of ridding it of the gold inlay. It's a slow going process.

This is, btw, my everyday carry gun. I keep it loaded with Speer 200gr SB Gold Dots.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys have lurking in the safe, but we're off to a pretty good start! Heavy drool factor.

Middle is a 16-4 that the prior owner had bobbed to 5" and milled down to a partial lug (perfect work). Reblue that looks like it's wet, .003" gap, DA silk, only truly Bank Vault lockup I have. Polished trigger/hammer and tapped-in o'travel screw:

Found this pair on auction this past summer, did okay. 617 Ashland converted to a 10-shot (5 flutes!!), and a 17-6 converted to a 9-shot. Only thing I can figure is that the 17-6 must've been done just prior to SW coming out w/ a 10-shot-- and the guy liked High Standards haha (or was it H&R?):

again....

Colt New Service .45 ACP (1917 US Property). Custom work done years by John B Williams Gun Smithing in Fullerton CA...no longer in business.

Hard Chrome, Polished Nickel, S&W adjustable rear sight, fabricated S&W style front sight. This gun (serial number specific) mentioned & pictured in at least a couple of Dean Grennell's books.

OH GOD!!

I can't look at all of them right now! I stopped after the first set of pics....my chest was starting to hurt and I was getting short of breath. Is that normal? Please tell me I'll be OK in a minute.

Just the little bit I saw was GORGEOUS. I LOVE single actions too. I've wanted a Peacemaker ever since I was a tot. I've never had one either....

Gonna come back tonight and fully absorb and enjoy the pics and sights. I'll be better prepared and able to handle it then.

Keep 'em coming guys and gals.

Thank YOU.

old model Blackhawk converted to .44 Special; one heckuva great shooter! Nicest action/trigger I've ever had the pleasure to experience.

And a New Model (Lipsey's) Blackhawk .44 Special. Also engraved by Mark Hykes, Sparks NV. Also a great shooter. Unlike the 'Vaquerito' .32 Mag (posted earlier in this thread), I didn't have this NM Blackhawk polished, hence the bluing isn't top quality (but I think it still looks good.)

Looks better with original grips, but shoots so nice with the Pachmayer rubber grips.
