Let's See Some Tricked Out Sports

I have looked at those bipods, which size did you get and how do you like them, do you flip them up or take them off when you put your rifle away? How sturdy are they when they are fully extended? Lots of questons.

The bipods are UTG TACTICAL/Sniper Profile Adjustable Height Universal Bipod with Rubberized Stand from amazon.

I ordered two one on my 15 only swivels approx 45 degrees but can have a washer placed under the bolt to obtain 360 degrees like my other one.It is 10 inches min from bottom of rail to deck adjustable to12 inches total height with a forward or backward movement of 1 in.

I shot the 15 with the legs locked out fully and locked into my shoulder and was very pleased with the stability and I keep the legs locked in the up position for storage on my 15 the legs point to the front on my 15-22 to the back.

I hope this info helps you if I forgot anything please let me know and I will try to answer it.

Let me guess, everytime your at wallyworld you slip in 3 or 4 $6 boxes of American Eagle so the wife doesn't get p. o. about a big 1x ammo purchase. Its what I do anyway. ;)

lol i wish my wally world sold lake city M855. They used to in the cans. They only sell the federal .223 in 100 round packs ugh. I had to order that M855 from palmetto state armory. But yes, i do that with the steel cases since it eats it like candy, they are only 4.50 a box.

New to forum

New here guys and just bought my first AR. Have owned numerous rifles and pistols, but I finally convinced the household 6 to let me make the purchase. Here it is.

Great pics! As soon as Palmetto gets me my "stuff" I will do a before and after. I am also waiting on my buddy to acquire me an M4 front sight and some picattany hand rails. It's nice having access to free stuff.

I love the comments from Rod and the FAS! I will say I have been to Iraq and Afghanistan and never has the FAS been needed. Has it for others of course, why else did it get invented. I'm sure the one time I would need it I would be screwed but luckily I carry a sidearm or two, depends on the pants I am wearing that day. I will say after I locked and loaded a round maybe I remembered to close the dust cover and maybe not. Once the rounds started flying it stayed open until I got back to my bunk. I will say my weapon always worked when I needed it and I did clean it whenever I had time. I personally don't think a little mud and water on the bolt will keep it from firing. Its a reliable design that works.

The whole is buying an Eotech or Aimpoint a waste of money a valid argument, doubt it. I have seen many a Eotech's take fail in the field. Personally I hate them. I had an Aimpoint Comp2 on my M4 in Iraq and I loved it. I also had an ACOG and that is a great sight when you need a zoom but for me its not that easy to grab my rifle and acquire a target with it. Buy what you can afford and what works for you and don't forget you have iron sights and as long as they are zeroed they will probably never fail you! Unless you bend your front sight post like I did. How did I do that I have no idea but luckily I fixed it before I needed to rely on it.

All this lever action makes me wish I had one and I am thinking that will be my next purchase.

I don't have any experience with the other forums but I will say everyone here is kind and helpful. I do get a laugh every now and then when reading the posts.

Love the Sport!! My son got one just before the madness and it has been PERFECT, eats cheap steel ammo like candy, something those REAL guns choke on with regularity. He dressed it with a used Troy full floater quad front furniture and a red dot. gonna try some pics later. I ran a M-16 back in the 70's that was temperamental, this Sport just ROCKS!

Trash Can Man, love that mount for the scope, very different. I assume that came with the scope.

Beautifully done, that's the way I'm looking to set one up.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The scope mount was an additional $50.00 from Nikon. It can be mounted any way you chose [turned 180 degrees if needed,as per Nikon] I chose this configuation in order to set the proper eye releif while mounting the scope as far forward as possible for charging handle clearance. The mount is specificly made for AR's so the height and everything is correct. These photo's are from Nikons website. Believe it or not, you cannot see the front sight at all with this 3X mag.

The stand was just made from a piece of Zebrawood [Zabrano] I had lying around. Not a practicle work stand.
I use it to "air out" the Sport which I keep in a hard Pelican case.I have heard good & bad things about storing a rifle in a air tight case, so I air it out often.

Upgrades

So I added a new carbon fiber free floating hand rail from lancer. The 15". And a bushnell red dot. It's a work in progress but getting there.

Duderino....I really like that extra long handguard...If I ever replace mine I will go with that length!! :D

Yeah, it's a 15" on a 16 barrel. It comes right to the end of the flash suppressor. There are a couple good options cheaper than what I have but all relatively the same price. VTac has the Alpha rail made by Troy that will extend out for $239. It's a quad rail system. The lancer I have is carbon fiber and the rail attachments are pricey. Also on the sport you will need to replace the gas block with a low profile gas block less than .8. It's really quick to do. If you want to maintain the iron sight and original gas block up front on the sport you can also look at the Vtac delta rail.

I have converted 2 Sports to Rifle length handguards, one of them is a couple of pics above yours that I have been using for over a year. I would probably go with the Nordic XL just because I like the smaller diameter. I ran the Nordic Rifle length on my first one. This Sport with the DD Modular 12.0 was a gift and a nice one I must say. I also bail on the flash hider for better accuracy. ;)
Oh and welcome to the forum. :D
