K frames are the perfect balance between power and convenience of carry. Mine get carried and shot a lot. What I plan to do determines which K frame I put on with my pants. I gravitate to the 3 or 4 inch barrels but my 6" M-53 gets out on occasion.
Shorty,
The 2" 64 was my go to K frame. At the risk of being burned at the stake, the Ruger SP101 I grabbed last Summer has replaced everything for about 99% of belt use. Smaller than a K, it carries lighter, while still having an acceptable frame size. Only drawback is 5 versus 6. Got the 65 if I want a bit more firepower. Lobo E Pancake on the SP and Combat Classic with the 65.
Here's my 66, don't remember the dash. It is P&R though. Millet sight, Hogue stock, and I took a dremel tool to the trigger and took the grooves out and radiused it for DA shooting. I also nipped the bottom of the cylinder release off for speedloader clearance.
I shot my first K-Frame in 1968 when I was a kid and owned one since 1975. I too love me some K-Frames.
The 2-inchers are considered as a pair for totin' purposes. The older M&P sees most use with the newer Model 10 kept for nice when its time to dress up while totin'.
The most favored of all is this Model 10 heavy barrel.
Some .357 Magnum K-Frames among all the other K-Frames that live around here are carried but the above are the favorites that see most actual use.
What is that doing in this thread? Unfortunately, the Colt Detective Special is also esteemed and goes along for the ride on occasion.
Forgot to describe the holsters used.
Bell Charter Oak "Mae West" IWB holsters tote the 2-inch K-Frames and Detective Special. A custom belt holster is used if carrying the 2-inch K-Frame guns on the belt. A Triple K holster that rides high on the belt is used for the Detective Special. An old Bucheimer Federal Man holster conceals the 4-inch K-Frames beneath a covering jacket or suit coat and Lefty at Bell Charter Oak just made me up a custom Mae West model to replace the IWB holster I was using to conceal the 4-inch.
I have a Federal Man for the 4" K also. Great holster. Reportedly the "Federal Man" is a somewhat rare bird. I don't know how many are still floating around.
Heres mine. Carrying it in an older hume h900 holster until I get the lobo pancake. I think im going to change the grips to stags if I can ever find some and a t grip.
Model 19-2 with 2 1/2 inch barrel and a BK grip adapter in a Milt Sparks holster and a snap on ammunition holder. All loaded with 158 grain hollow points.
This - new to me - Model 64-3 will be in the line-up after I find a holster for it.
Updated the grips..............later a holster....
