Lot of likes when first posted. Got closed because of my poor method of signifying frustration language. Revised some and hopefully fine with the mods. Sorry for any offense.

We are settled in our wonderful cabin on a mountain road in Montana. Its beautiful and as the nearest neighbors are a ¼ mile away the solitude is wonderful. I wake up and hear birds singing and I saw a band of deer eating grass in the yard while I drank my morning coffee. We are in heaven

Early September and it has frosted already. I woke up and found a wonderland outside with sparkles everywhere as the morning sun reflected off the crystals of frost. Learned to scrape the windows of my car and let it warm up before heading down to town. Have to go out and start the car 5 minutes before I leave. I didn't have the windows all the way cleared off and a almost hit a cute little deer that ran across the road. Sorry about the phone call, I found out that cell phones around here cut out in some places! You won't believe this some of the locals drive around with guns in their trucks all the time and its legal! Unreal.

Its gorgeous here, the trees are all kinds of wonderful colors now, Even some of the pine the locals call Larch are turning yellow. This morning was especially beautiful as the frost was added to by a light snow fall and little flacks of snow were falling through the morning sky. Its amazing and just the first week of Oct. Took a little more time to warm up the car and the frost has killed all the flowers. It does warm up nice during the day though and the changing of the season is so exciting. It does bother me a bit that my cell phone doesn't work in a lot of places out of town. Plus during storms our wireless internet doesn't work well.

Wow, it isn't even Nov and we had our first real snowfall. Several inches of wonderful fluffy snow. The trees look wonderful and the deer really stand out in the white wonderland that surrounds us. Once I got the car cleared off it wasn't that bad to drive in. Need to start for town earlier because I can't drive as fast on the snow. Need to remember to go slower down hill, almost slid of the road where it meets the pretty little creek. Most of the locals are excited about “hunting season” I pray for the beautiful deer. I don't understand how anyone could kill one.

It really snowed last night. Almost a foot of the stuff. Going to be wonderful to have a true white Christmas. It isn't even Thanksgiving and its white everywhere. The people here are so great the neighbor has a snow plow and plowed the road before I left. The plow left a pile of snow in front of our driveway and I almost got stuck in it. We have a snow shovel. It was nice to get a bit of morning exercise clearing off the porch and sidewalk while the car warmed up. I have these cute little snow boots that have fluff around the tops, a matching coat a mittens. They keep me all cozy, Excerpt I got the mittens wet clearing the car and my hands did get a little numb. I wish the deer would learn to stay out of the road. I almost hit a bunch of them as they ran across the road at the creek. The TV quit working during the snow storm and I called the satellite company and found out sometimes snow fall blocks the signal and we are going to have to keep the dish cleared off for TV and internet.

Wow, we got over a foot of snow this weekend. It will surly be a white Christmas. I had to shovel a lot of snow at the end of the drive when the neighbor plowed the road. I wish he wouldn't make it pile up like that. Got studdeed snow tires for the car because the roads are getting worse, our driveway has turned into a skating rink because of the car packing the snow hard. You would think the state would do better on keeping to roads clear. In some places there is hard packed snow and ice on the roads and they put “sand” on it. A piece of the “sand” flew up off the road by a passing truck put a small crack on the windshield. No TV or internet until hubby cleans of dishes. Fun. confess, sometimes I miss the warm weather in sunny California.

Man it isn't even Christmas and the snow has gotten so deep and its cold. Thirty below zero. I put on my coat, boots and mittens and nearly froze to death trying to start the car. No such luck it just barely turned over then clicked. I called the towing service and they told me they would get to me as soon as they could. I did find out most people have some kind of plug in for their cars to keep the motor warm enough to start. When I did get it started and cleared off found out the cold had made the chip on windshield turn into huge crack. On my list of things to do when I make it to town, get windshield and plug in for car, right along with a getting better snow suit and some ugly clunky boots they call packs. Bob just about fell of the roof cleaning off the dishes.

Merrry Christmas my rosy red you know what. Yesterday the snow is so deep I had to fight my way out the door to freeze to death and work my self to exhaustion shoveling the bleeping snow to get to the car then had to Clean it off and shovel a path for it. The bleeping neighbor and his plow made a huge hump at the end of the driveway and it took me forever to get a place so I could get to the road. I was so tired I forgot to unplug the car and drove off with the cord. Then on the way down the bleeping hill those bleeping deer ran into the road. I slammed on the brakes and started sliding sideways right into that bleeping ditch they call a creek. Had to walk down the road to get cell service and call for help. Wrecker guy says car is totaled. So what. Its impossible to drive in this bleeping place anyway. Our Christmas presents are still at the post office but, we gave each other the promise of moving back to California as soon as the snow is gone. The crazy gun toting rednecks that live around here can have the place. I wish they would have killed all the bleeping deer. Never ever again. Montana hell on earth.

Yeah, really cheesed my wheels when it closed before I found out what kind of coffee you had that morning!

First and foremost. I couldn't have been the person in the letters as I was born and raised in Montana. I did move away for almost 20 years. I came "home" as soon as I retired. I did go to California one winter for a short play money job about 6 years ago. I hated it, traffic, closed in etc. I asked for a layoff after 2 weeks and came home. Never going back.

I start my day off with a double breve made with fresh ground espresso beans, then go to strong regular coffee made with Folgers French roast. I do very often see deer in my yard in the mornings and other times. My property is bordered by Lylaics, crab apple trees and choke cherries, all over grown and hanging down. The deer like to lay under them especially in bad weather. I only mow most of it 2 or 3 times a year and I have one corner that is behind my shop on one side and my storage shed on another that I never mow and the grass gets real high. It is a jungle there and every year a doe has her fawn there. Most of the deer that come on my place will let me walk with in about 10-20 feet of them. I have pheasants and grouse show up and hang out at time too. I never see deer laying in the perfectly manicured lawn of my neighbor or pheasants on it either. He has never complained about my yard. He has told me "Your deer are eating my wife's flowers" LOL. She sees flowers they see dessert.

When, I lived over in the Bitterroot valley a Californian bought a 20 acre piece along the creek below my place. He put in a perfect fence, tore out most of the brush, planted a huge lawn and put in horse corrals and a stable. The horses of course immediately ate and trampled everything in their corrals down to bare ground. Fine its his place do do what he wants. But, then he complained, while at the local cafe, that when he move in there were deer on his place, but, the hunters must have shot them all because they were gone. One of my brothers explained to him why the deer were not on his place anymore.

LOL........ here in the "Burbs of the Burgh"yesterday as I was hand splitting firewood...... a doe and her fawn were laying about 50 yards away... in the mowed area of my backyard watching......

I love folks who move someplace to "have the lifestyle it offers" and immediately start trying to remake it to be like the place they came from......

you see it happening in Arizona, Colorado .......... Montana.......

Right there is the problem. People come here from where ever and then start wanting to redo it to the place they come from.Wanting land use rules and laws to make everyone conform to what they think is right. Here it is pretty much live and let live. What you do on your place is your business not your new neighbors. I try to be considerate of my neighbors, but they have no reason to complain because I am going to stick up a windmill to feed a small pond by my garden. If my neighbor wants to get a horse and make a dust bowl thats fine. His dirt. Looked out the window yesterday and saw one of the my other neighbors chickens had got out and was wondering around my place. One of their rabbits got out and moved into my storage shed for a while. Kids finally caught him. One of their trees broke off in a wind storm and landed on my shop. We got together sawed it up. Divided up the wood. Pathched the roof. No Big deal.
