Letting customers gouge themselves.

I dont see ammo EVER getting back to pre-2020 riot prices. 9mm won't ever again be less than $15/box. Let's all hope im wrong.

If you REALLY want to see prices go back down.......

DON'T BUY......period.

Unfortunately, there are few who are disciplined enough to stay home and wait'em out.

IMHO of course,

Guy who posts over here on this forum, Classic12, also posts on other boards. I saw his stuff from the other day on TFL, he was saying ammo is basically normal in Switzerland ($200 per 1000, for S&B, GECO, WWB).

My thoughts are that either the 'shortages in production' haven't hit their stock overseas yet, or we're just being upcharged because too many are willing to pay 3-4x what they should, and the companies are loving it.

It could also be that the Swiss use only a tiny fraction of the ammo that is purchased in the US so their much lower demand hasn't impacted their supply prices yet. At only 8.6 million people we have more than a few cities and many counties larger than they are. I'm sure we could all deal with a reasonable increase in price due to shortages of raw materials, but our panic buying/hoarding have really thrown a monkey wrench into the works.

.... They can't really save much money over buying factory inexpensive target ammunition, which, by the way, is pretty darned good quality these days. (Quite a bit of it imported from Europe.)

I don't expect to see prices to go back to "normal" on much of anything to do with firearms. Hope I'm wrong.

FWIW, I don't see ammo or components being imported in a year.

I see regulations being changed.

I have been lucky getting most of what I want somewhat locally. I reload for some but, am starting to do more reloading so that I don't have to rely on GB for crazy ammo prices.

In a vacuum, maybe...

But let's also consider- if the Swiss have a tiny fraction of shooters compared to the US, then the sellers over there aren't going to stock up beyond their expected market.

Just for fun, I went ahead and checked some Canadian prices, they can get Blazer Brass for 12 USD a box, 240 USD a case. Plenty of stock there. Too bad we can't ship any...

Covid shutdown was earlier this year, new shipment issues should be hitting them now (or soon).
We're not feeling covid shortage, we're feeling massive panic buy shortage (and resulting opportunistic response from somewhere in the supply chain).

If people calm down and let the market recover, prices will go down. PPU isn't going to let Federal monopolize the market, for example, so expect to see some competing lower prices once things level out.
