Hey Everyone.
Look for some feed back on a Lew Horton 24-3 i just picked up yesterday.
Could a yellow front ramp insert be of original origin in 1985?
Thanks

Doubtful a yellow ramp insert came from the factory as original on a Model 24-3. Likely done after retail delivery. I have seen some Model 19 2-1/2" models with the yellow ramp insert but all were part of a special government order, as I recall.

It is remarkable how the values of some S&W revolvers have skyrocketed into the stratosphere. Back when the Models 24-3 and 624 were introduced in limited quantities, I knew they were something very special. They were gobbled up back then and have risen in value accordingly. It saddens me that nothing like those guns will ever be produced by the factory again. Nothing these days even comes close, in my opinion.

I shamelessly show these again. I bought as soon as they were announced.
When Lou Horton announced the 3" 24. All or his order was sold out before the first gun shipped from S&W.........This was the first 3 in. N-frame S&W ever made.........The short 27 is 3 1/2 inches.

I can remember seeing those Lew Horton specials as a young man. Never had the opportunity to own one. Great revolvers; thank you for the pictures!

I believe mine is poss an after run of the LH group. The 24-3 3 inch I bought about 2-3 yrs ago was one I hunted for.
I wanted one of this unique low produced model for awhile..Mine was 1k less than the above mentioned one at 2500. with the orig box ..cleaning kit ..and paperwork..and orig grips along w a set of bone grips for it also. Mine now has a .400 smooth combat target trigger. This trigger really feels great for me.
The orig .312 trigger is kept in the box. Its a really nice compact N Frame 44 spc..It appears it was little used ..close to new. Now that I have had it awhile, I sometimes think about other Smiths
I lust after nowadays rather than this Smith. I must be getting fickle..as they say😁
Here's a few pictures of my orig 24-3 3 inch 44spc..
Best Randy..

This one wears my self custom grips, as I don't like the combat grips that it came with. It does get shot every once in awhile. I have carried it a few times on Prairie dog hunts with shot loads for snakes. The original grips stay in the original box for when I may be selling it someday.
