well, i will get the gun within the next 1-2 weeks. Unfortunately there is no original box but the original sights. i do have the Standard Catalogue of Smith Wesson Nr.2 and will get the Nr.5 soon. all i founf in my catalogue was this (see attachement). by the way, i can get it for 650 ;-)Willkommen im Forum! With a little more information, we could probably help you identify your 29-3. What is the s/n of that revolver (bottom of the grip frame and in the cylinder recess)? Does the seller have the box, and if so, what is the Product Code on the end label? Those 2 pieces of info will help determine if you have a Lew Horton version or not. I don't believe that the front and rear sights are LH, and were probably installed later. Geniessen!
Hi, now i got the code. its BFF3291, but i cant find anything in my Standard Catalogue second edition. its very strange.well, i will get the gun within the next 1-2 weeks. Are you sure that this revolver is a 629-2 and not a 629-3? Can you tell if it has a square butt or round butt grip frame (with the grips removed)? I only found one reference to a 629-2 with 3" bbl. (PC 103610) and that was a round butt released in 1989. The 629-3 was also introduced in 1989. Your s/n BFF3291 shows in the "SCSW 5th Ed." that your revolver was manufactured in 1990 which makes me think it's a 629-3. Although there were some 3" Lew Horton versions manufactured in 1986-87, those were 629-1. Many Lew Horton 3" models, including the Performance Center's Lew Horton 3" Model 629-3 Carry Comp Stainless (1992), were manufactured later than yours. Sounds like you'll have to contact Susan at LH to see if your revolver is truly a Lew Horton or just a similar release from S&W. Good luck!
Hi, thanks for your reply, i just sent some pics to Hawg Rider with all the frame stamps. I do have the original sights and the original grips. but for the showcase i put these on ;-)In 1989 S&W offered the 629-2 Classic Hunter (#103650) with a 3" full lug barrel, unfluted cylinder, and the Pachmayr SKGR grips you have there. It appears the sights have been changed/ungraded, but I'm pretty certain that's the gun. I had one that I called the Pocket Monster. It is not a Lew Horton gun. Here's mine with aftermarket stocks.

Well, it's definitely a 3" Model 629-2 with unfluted cylinder...manufactured in late 1989-early 1990. I think I would have to agree with OutAtTheEdge that you have a Model 629-2 3" Classic Hunter. About 3,200 of these revolvers were manufactured (1989) and they would have been shipped with Pachmayr rubber stocks. These were not built for Lew Horton, but they're still excellent revolvers. Enjoy!View attachment 793425View attachment 793426View attachment 793427
i know a lot about the Frames / butts and so on.. but don't get smart abot this piece. hope someone can help.
Thank you my friend for your reply. is 3'200 a rather low production compare to other models?
