Moses said "The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason
of strength, eighty".

Last time I checked, medical science has raised that 70 up to
77 for American males. I think it's 83 for females.

I'm 86 today, so guess I have had the last 9 years on "borrowed"
time. Kinda reminds me of the old saying, if I knew I was going
to be around this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

My dear wife Ann died on February 11, 2020, one year ago.
Ironically on my 85th birthday. She was, and is, an Angel.
We would have been married 60 years on May 13th. I miss
her every day. I hope to go were she is.

December 13 2001 was a bad one for me. I know where she's at now, I hope that I'll be able to join her and not go the other way.!

She's the reason I never remarried, no one could ever take her place.

Phil, I'm sure you'll meet up with the love of your life.

Happy Birthday! My love and I married on your 17th anniversary!

Life expectancy, is not like Shelf Life, people don't come off a assembly line! I have a friend that lived 51 years after a North Vietnamese bullet killed two others and stopped 1/4" from his heart! I have a cousin that died at 19 from a bleeding stroke.

My grandparents died at 33, 69, 69, and 69 But the next generation lived well into their 80's (Mom turns 89 in a few weeks and is going strong!)

It is not about getting the most days in, it is about getting the most out of the days you have! Take some ammo and go shoot some targets, Take a friend to lunch, whistle at a pretty girl and have a great day!

Go down to the local gun shop and pick out a present for yourself.

A guy I knew from gun shops bought himself a stainless pistol/revolver every year on his birthday! I took that a permission to buy a Browning O/U every year for the next 6 birthdays!!! Then I switched to S&W's! My birthday was 2 weeks ago, and I can't find any guns I want or can afford for this year, but I take that as a challenge that lasts for the next 351 days!

And it's amazing how fast that threshhold sneaks up on you. Back when I started out on my own I never envisioned myself being as old as I am now. Now I've been retired for 5 years and have lived in my present house for 15 years, and what Moses said is now just over the horizon.

Happy birthday Phil, and my heartfelt condolences on your wife's passing.

Last time I checked I thought the life expectancy for American males was 79 - but that may have dropped in the last couple of years.

The year I was born (1962) life expectancy for American males was 73. That is an improvement of 6 years - over 8% improvement - just in my lifetime.

All due to improvements in healthcare, better nutrition, and probably reduction in other hazards (safer cars, safer workplaces, less smoking, etc.). But there are still a lot of "chicken little" types out there screaming "THIS or THAT is gonna' kill you! Be afraid, be VERY afraid!"

LOL :D :D :D

I share your Pain Phil.
My Better Half left us and the world has never quite been the same.
I am blessed with Kids and Grandkids.
So I have a Dau and a Granddaughter to provide 'guidance.'
