I pretty much like most music (well, real music anyway) and kind of go through periods where I enjoy one type more than another. So while on U-Tube the other day, I came across this pianist (never heard of her until then.) I was impressed - she has quite a playlist if you want to get into it more, but for now, here's a link to get you started:

Yes. I do like clasic music. Like the 3e of Beethoven. I do like Mozart and Bach to. I often play clasic music when I am writing.

I am not that good on titles. I like a piece or not.

I have some classical music, and some that is probably considered claassical, like Joaquin Rodrigo's, "Concierto de Aranjuez." I have some music back to the 15th Century.

I especially like Bach, and Handel's "Water Music" and, "Music for the Royal Fireworks." And Vivaldi raises my spirits!

I generally don't like country music (there goes a gun owner stereotype!) and detest rap and hip-hop.

Yes I like Classical. My parents listened to it all the time and Mom was very accomplished on the Piano (Baby Grand)

Folks in this area are very Miffed that the local PBS (University) station stopped classical music and went to 100% talk (yack, yack) format. It was nice to listen to at work without the annoying commercials. There are no other stations except HD versions or streaming on your computer.

From Texas and you don't like country? I have to re-evaluate my stereotypes. I like the oldies, and I like of Bob Wills Texas swing. He's big in my native Upstate NY. JFTR, I lived in TX for about 6 years.

Not to highjack this thread, I like to watch as well as listen to Classical performers.

Well, I like some of the western songs, like Marty Robbins's stuff and some major movie themes.

And I have some of Sarah Brightman's CD's. Here's, Harem" from her CD of the same name. The video features three of my favorite TV heroines, the girls from the Treehouse on, "The Lost World." The blonde in black with the crossbow is played by Lara Cox, whose homeless video I've also posted, in a different topic, about the music to it, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." "Harem":

Nice version of Greensleeves Texas Star.

Theur-

Thanks. I like your choices, too. Your posts are ever among the best here. Your board name is clever, too, for those who know about Colts.

Here's Renee Fleming performing 'Song to the Moon from Dvorák's opera Rusalka

I met her on a backstage tour of the Met a couple of years ago and talked to her for while. We found people in the music world that we both knew almost immediately. An incredibly beautiful and intelligent woman.

My girl friend said, "You'd throw me over for her in a second, wouldn't you?"

I said, "No. That's not true. It would take less than a microsecond."

If you like violin then you need to take a lissten to Anne Sophie Mutter on Beethovens violin concerto with Seiji Osawa and the Boston Symphony or Massenette's Meditations From Thais. This laady plays with such soul and intensity she's just hard to equal in my opinion. There are plenty of videos of her on youtube.

Also add that I like Polkas, bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, celtic, cajun, zydeco, etc etc. Most anything that can be called real music.

Violin concertos are my favorite - I have listened to (and probably have on CD) most of the biggies from the last 20-30 years, but my favorite violinist is David Oistrakh - I don't think there's a better Tchiakovsky or Brahms, but his recordings are pretty old. They are also on U-

Tube if you want to check him out (guaranteed to raise the hairs on back of your neck):
