Read a tone of reviews and watched several videos about the Springfield Ronin Operator .45ACP 1911 5" model. Found a nice used one at LGS; no box, pouch, paperwork or extra fiber optics, but it has 2 mags and is pretty clean...except for an 'idiot scratch.'

I really liked the feel and tightness of the construction as well as the enhancements for a production 1911. I put it on layaway and hope to pick it up soon.

If you have one, do you like yours? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. But, I'm still gonna bring it home regardless...LOL I like it a lot!

Also any advice on removing the 'idiot scratch' would be helpful.

Picked it last Thursday but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet! I sure like the look of the two tone: blued slide and stainless frame!

On a stainless frame, the "Idiot Scratch" shouldn't be to noticeable. But some people want them polished out anyway. If the frame is not Highly polished a white ball point pen eraser chucked into a electric drill, is a common buffer. If you over do it, it will look worse than any idiot scratch.

Faint scratches on a blue part of any gun can be easily hidden using liquid cold blue. DO NOT USE BLUE MARKERS, I have yet to see a single gun these matched, and sometimes harm the finish! I like Brownelle's Orpha-blue (bad spelling) applied with a Q-tip and an oil free scratch. Follow instructions. apply ONE lite coat, and let sit for 24 hours. Repeat as needed.

Ivan, thanks for the tips, I will check out those solutions.

I have the 9mm Ronin and I like it a lot. Bought it for my kids to start on and we all like it. I especially like the looks, but good trigger, sights. I say full speed ahead, and post photos when you get it.
