Anyone put hands on Lipsey's re-intorduced Mountain Guns? Makes me wish I'd kept my original 686 MG. Kick myself for letting it go.
Anyway, if you've seen one I'd like to get your impression. I think I'm going to start saving up for the 686.

I've been repeatedly checking if any vendors have them, and while they are listed, they're still out of stock. I'm hoping they come out later this month.

I saw a video from the shot show in January where the Lipsey's guy said they were available "now". Then I heard they were shipping the first week of February. Then I heard they were shipping in March. I am beginning to believe they don't exist.

I called Lipseys last week. They said they hadn’t seen them yet. We’re supposed to get 629’s first week of Feb. didn’t happen. This week is their S&W “promo week” where I guess they go over the new products internally. She said it seemed likely they would receive some of the 629’s for that internal function then they would start shipping. We shall see.

I picked up my 629 today.

How did you procure it?

So far the only place I've seen it available is one on Gunbroker and it's listed at $1400: Just a moment...

My dealer has a great relationship with their rep and called and got one allocated before they could be allocated through the website portal. Other dealers still can’t get them through the site and I guess don’t want to pick up the phone and call their rep. I also paid under MSRP.

I just got back from the range with it and it’s pretty awesome. Nowhere near as snappy as I thought it would be with the lightweight barrel out front. Certainly nothing like my 329PD was, that thing was hateful.

I shot just shy of 100 rounds of various 240gr 44 mag loads (Magtech FMJ, Federal hydra shock, Sierra JHP, Norma JHP, Hornady XTP and Winchester) plus 40-50 round of 44 special which feels about the same as shooting standard pressure 38 special out of my 686 and my hands don’t hurt at all. There was some slight discomfort while shooting in the web of my hand but no more than I get from shooting 357 out of my 686 with hogues.

I'm going to say that Skeeter Skelton grip design with palm swells works as advertised because I have zero pain from hot spots after the fact.

I stopped at a gun store after the range to pick up some oil and have the first coat drying now. It really pulled out a lot more figure and I’m sure will take several coats.

guns.com had one for over $2000. A day later they dropped it to 1531. Still too high.

They can kick rocks, they absolutely price gouge on so much stuff and fluctuate their prices constantly based on supply. I get not giving away something for a few bucks over cost when you’re the only person that has it, but charging nearly double MSRP for something in production is wrong. I won’t buy from them even when they have the best price just out of principle of not supporting a company like that.

Thanks for the review. I can't wait to see one of these in person. Also, thanks for the info on guns.com. I didn't know. I have never bought from them and now I'm glad I didn't.
