Liquidating a (Family) Collection

Old fashioned LOCAL Auction

Just have an old fashioned auction at your LOCAL Fairgrounds and advertise the h... out of it. I believe you will be surprised at what price the firearms will command at such a venue. What about ammo? Here in Ohio at a local auction bricks of 22's are selling for $100 a brick! The bidders go crazy for the guns too. Guns are bringing WAY MORE than they are worth. These people at the auctions seem to have more $ than they have common sense. All it takes is 2 people that want the gun!

Also you should be compensated for your trouble...I would think at least 10%.

I think a phrase is very fitting for these matters

No good deed goes unpunished

No matter how honest you are or hard you try it winds up." I was told the guns were worth $X each. He only gave 1/4X each, he gave them away(, took the money, sold them to his friends, etc). How could he do that to me".

Seems like a lose, lose situation.

The Rock Island Auction Co. buys firearms. You might want to contact them to see if they would be interested and what they might offer. Just google The Rock Island Auction Co. I believe they are located in or near Rock Island, Illinois. If nothing else, take a look at their Web site as they have some information that may help you out, no matter what direction yo go.

I would not take a whizz on that crew if they were on fire. I have observed or attempted to participate in their auctions in the past and it was not pretty. There is another shower in CA to keep clear of too, IMHO. Details by PM if required.
