Yep, this would have been the K-22 Masterpiece and when the model number system came into being, it was the Model 17.

Interesting modified stocks on that one. Did you do that or was it done by a previous owner? I like the flair at the heel but I like them in the original condition better.. Does the right panel have the S&W monogram?

Hi Warf Rat

It is, as others have noted, a K-22 Masterpiece. It very likely shipped in the last half of 1947. K7920 shipped in December 1947; K8726 shipped in November 1947. Both were also K-22 Masterpiece revolvers.

Added: The stocks definitely are not original. Target stocks were not yet available in 1947 (or 1948, for that matter).

Thanks, you all! I guess I put this in wrong place. Grips came with it I got it a little cheaper because of them. But I wanted it to shoot and they fell very nice they trump S&W target grips for my hands. Wish I knew who made them. I actually like the hammer on it better than the target hammer. Is it a speed hammer? So witch way do you turn windage screw to move right?
Again thank you

Ok this isn't probably the right place to put this question, but one of you may know how to get me where to go or may know answer. So I dissembled my ol shooter K 22 and took off hand from trigger to oil can't figure how to spring rod in place to get hand working again. Know what I mean? Thanks WR

hammer

Ok, Here is the best guess. there are at least 2 different springs to Operate the hand that I know of. Depending on age If you look in the back of the trigger there should be a loose round wire spring or a flat Springish rod. These are above the rounded rod that goes in the trigger return spring. I usually take a jewelers screwdriver to push the spring up to insert the hand. Position the hand on the trigger just enough to hold it, with the screwdriver push the round or flat spring up enough to push the hand all the way thru and if done right you will have tension on the hand. Hope I've described this operation coherently.

PS, easier to do if you have a third hand. Put trigger in a small vise then you can use one hand on the screwdriver & spring and one of the hand.

Thanks got hand on after I figured, out with explanation there are two arms in there.

So now I can not get side plate on it's like the rebound peg or hammer axel is not going in hole. I believe I got the hammer safety deal in plate side plate. Thanks WR
