1. it shows that when you really need a cop they are minutes away.

2. why is that the car with the camera in it is always minutes away? when the car finally gets there , there are several cars already there with the bad guys cuffed. there might even be a swat team in the background out of camera range. the camera never seems to be first on the scene.

3. Minden is obviously not a high crime city and has 4 full time cops , a part timer and the chief. the night shift cop knows that his backup is home in bed. if he is really lucky there might be a deputy within a few miles. there probably isn’t a state patrolman within 30 miles so if he really needs a backup he is on his own for a while. so on Live PD it is amazing that you can pullover a car for a failure to use the turn signal and have 3 or 4 backups show up to help.

4. the standard for probable cause must be really low to pull over a car for a turn signal violation , pull the driver out of the car and patted down.

5. with all of the cops on the scene with guns drawn I’m sure I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near them if a shot gets fired. they don’t seem to be concerned about background. they could be more careful.

6. I think there are some cops looking for some face time on camera. would their actions be different if the cameras were not there?

7. cops do have a tough job but I think their actions make it a harder than it needs to be.

Maybe the officers know who they're dealing with, and need a reason to stop them.

I have another question. Why are so many of the suspects who are pulled over not wearing shirts? It seems like the shirtless suspects have either just committed a crime, or they have active warrants for their arrest. I know that driving while shirtless is not against the law (at least for guys), but why advertise that you're a perp by driving around that way. I'll take a stab at answering my own question: These guys are really, really, dumb.

It's still a TV show designed to entertain the masses. Real police work is 95% boring, who would watch that?

What Puller said. That's usually the reason multiple units are on the scene, "Finally, some action." The biggest difference I see from when I was in the job is the interaction between the subject and the officer/deputy. I had a laminated card with the Miranda Rights, read it verbatim. After "You have the right to remain silent," I'd suggest, "Use it." Further discussion of the matter would take place at the station, not in the street.

If memory serves, some folks have even been pulled over for a license plate light....
while my local PD doesn't seem too concerned with heavy window tinting or a tinted cover over the license plate, which surely are more questionable.

Yep, I was. It was in a small town where "everybody" knows you don't go even 1 mph over the limit. Officer pulled me over for a license plate light burned out. One of two lights; the other one worked. He asked if I knew I had a light out. "Nope, I'll get a bulb in it right away." After the license and insurance check, we started chatting away. Pleasant guy just doing his job. He saw a dirty, rusty pickup with a driver needing a haircut and beard trim. Profiling? Maybe, but I don't really care. He was doing his job and treated me just fine. Shortly thereafter, I replaced the bulb and got a haircut. The pickup remained dirty and rusty for as long as I had it.

It happened to me but I had my shirt on. I wiped the dirt off the lens while he was running my license and he let me go once it came back OK. I'll guarantee that there wasn't another truck like mine in the next three counties. '62 F-100 Unibody with the rare panoramic rear glass.

The amazing thing about any of those shows is not only are the "bad guys" such idiots but so many just like to talk and talk and get themselves in more trouble. The stuff they show may be real but I can't watch any of it. Then they have the talking heads, now lets go over to XYZ County.

Even the more realistic shows. say like the first 48 Hours, "Come downtown, we need to talk with you". OK sure, they go down and sit in "interview (interrogation) just talking away for hours. Any of these people ever learn to say nothing?
Best Police show out there for 2 short seasons is Deadly Recall on Discovery ID.. I posted a thread on it.

Detective Pat Postiglione is the real deal. Photographic memory.

I love that show! It can become addicting very easily. I just can't believe how many of idiots that are pulled over have no driver's license and weed on them or in the car.

I kind of like it. The 8 cops for some guy on a bicycle is kinda dumb. I gotta laugh when they get excited about a gun in a car. Be most of tthe stops around here. Permit why do you need a permit. LOL.
Some of the cops over reach, my wife the attorney goes nuts. But, then here you have need real strong probable cause or plain sight to search somebodies car. LOL.

Some of the "bad guys" are so dumb it hurts. The right to remain silent doesn't mean they will or can.

My all time favorite was the cop who caught some kids sparking up a joint in front of the mini Mart. He gives them a break and makes them stomp it to pieces on the asphalt. Then, he gets back in his car and is looking down at his computer, when the hop head driver backs into him. Wonder why the call it dope. Hilarious. The sheriff in Missoula mostly just shows people that hit deer or slid off the icy road. Lot of that in Montana.

There are a couple of the lady cops who could cuff and frisk me anytime.
But, then they would just think I am a dirty old man. They would of course be right. Now, that would be good police work right there.

I enjoy the show. It's fun to watch so many perps being really stupid and
as said above, talking their way into jail when they could have gone on
down the road. I think so many are shirtless because they are sooo very
proud of all those tattoos. What's really funny is when the really self
styled tough guys start crying and want their mommies :D:D

I like the show. It is entertaining and I think it lets people see some of the cr@p that LEO's have to put up with. Yes, they are always in pursuit or speeding to the scene of a bad accident, robbery, assault, shooting, etc., but they are following multiple agencies and I think they might be picking agencies that have very high crime areas.
