Since I have it for so many other loads, I tried W231 (7 ~ 7.5g) with a 250g cast boolit and I liked it - a lot.
That said, I fell prey to the lure of Unique for this round. 8 ~ 9 grains with a 250g boolit is nice and I settled on 9g as I like the original 900fps of the BP load. 900fps is a magical speed.
If I want a magnum, I'll break out a magnum and use it, but this old girl (25-7) only shoots 900fps. One day many years from now when my grandkid(s) are dividing my firearms, I want this to be good as the day I bought it in 89.
To put it into perspective, the 900fps 255g load has enough energy to penetrate a horse and get the bad guy hiding behind it at 100 yards. The U.S. Army specified and got this round for that particular reason. Not bad for a non magnum.
