I am thinking about ordering one for a 3" Model 66. It is newer to the line and I have seen several for sale, which is weird for a newer holster. Is anyone using one have any concerns or issues, or are they working out well? It looks like what I am looking for along with combining it with one of their IWB holsters when concealment is more important than access. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

No concerns what so ever!! most of the time Lobo holsters are for sale is because they no longer own the gun that it was for...that's how I came to own the three that I have...

I picked one up from a fellow Forum member for a 4 inch Model 64/10. It is a very well made and nice holster, as is all the Lobo models that I have.

I also have a couple of his pancakes, enhanced, regular and SL, and will say that they ride higher and are more concealable, in my opinion. I picked the one up that I did because I was looking for a general shooting/IDPA style holster (because one of these days I am going to start competing :)) and it seemed well suited for that.

Not sure why the previous owner decided to get rid of it but I jumped at the chance.

I have noticed a couple of things over the years in this business.

Some people change their minds frequently. I regularly have orders placed by folks followed by changes in which handgun it is to be made for, or which holster model they want, not to mention all the changes in colors and options. Customers regularly order a holster for one handgun, then notify me they have traded guns and need the holster made for something else. Some folks seem to change sidearms the way others change socks.

The other thing I see regularly is holsters that I made quite recently showing up on eBay or in the forum ads. This includes holsters with any number of options chosen by the original customer to suit individual preferences. Why they are selling the holsters may not be known, but I suspect that most have sold or traded the handgun and no longer need the holster.

On the other hand I know of several holsters that I made back in the 1970's that are still in use by the original owners. Made one for a friend on the police department as a gift when he was promoted in 1976, and he still uses it. Another was made as a retirement present about 1980, and the last time I ran into the recipient (about 2004) he opened his jacket and showed me that holster on his belt.

Some people find a handgun that suits their needs and a holster that works for them and stick with them for years. Others keep trying something different over and over again.

I won't complain. Last time I sat down and tallied up a year's orders I noted that nearly 30% of all orders were repeat customers. That tells me I must be doing some things right.

Best regards.

I fall into that category of "keeping things for years"-actually, decades! I still have my electricians tool belt and tools from 44 years ago...and still use them!

See no reason to be any different with handguns; do my research, make my selection...and stick with it. Oh, I'll add to the toolbelt (and gun stores), but they won't be swapped like trading cards.

P.S. The Shield double mag holder you made for me is working out fine! :)

On holsters. I for one like to buy used. 2 reasons to save money and I don't know if I will like the holster. I don't have any of Lobo holsters. But If I wanted a new one from what I have read Lobo would be the place I would order from.

I rarely sell holsters as I put a lot of time into selection, particularly with bespoke leather. The Combat Classic looks like what I would want and I am debating whether to go with the Avenger style or the Combat Classic...I just know I want to try some Lobo stuff, it's just which one. I ll try a call next week to see if I can come up with something that is workable. A 3" 66-3 with Nill grips is going to need something special! I just want to get this right. Thanks for the input and PM's.

Lobo Combat Classic,
Well, my take is NOT meant to offend or p*** off
Mr.R...I won the S&W Auction & ordered a Combat Classic for my Glock 30s(I'm a 1911 Kimber Pro Carry guy...but like THIS Glock model).Got it & it was a tight fit.....soooo tight I had a hard time drawing! Did what the directions suggested to make it good to go...added a couple of my own ideas & it works fantastic! Here is a plus....while I was having the tbl.I had to carry at night(I'm in Miami)so for the heck of it I dropped my Kimber in it.....boy is it fast.So I got a two for one holster!LOL! Love this holster & it's carrying my Clock now....don't even feel it!
Jim

PS... to my comment on LOBO Leather! His work is so well done....you may never NEED another holster...unlless you buy more guns & NEED holsters for them! Give him a chance...you won't be disappointed!

I recently ordered an Enhanced Pancake holster for a Glock 30S. The holster looks great, is well made, & fits the pistol perfectly.
Ray delivers great quality, great prices, & great customer service.

I too fall into the category of a gun accumulator. no collector, all just shooters and once they make it to my possession, very very few ever leave. Still have a worn out charter bull dog that has been carried a "million" trail miles in a shoulder holster, on the second shoulder holster because of the wet with sweat and rain so many times, it just kind of gave it up. That's why I like Ray's stuff. waiting on my second holster and my son picked one up last year for his new trail gun, a Ruger 101 in the 357 with that 4 1/4 barrel. I hope they last a lifetime, I am sure they will, now that I have two grandsons, I expect one of them will be carrying one of my 44 specials one day in one of Ray's Lobo leather holsters long after I am gone to the happy shooting range in the sky. If you can afford a S & W, you can afford a Lobo Leather holster to carry the critter around with you on your journeys.

Guys, just to not get off track or misread what I am looking for. I know Lobo makes good stuff, particularly his enhanced Pancake. I simply carry at 2-3 O'clock and am not a big pancake holster lover. I have decided on A Lobo holster for this gun, it is simply a choice between the Avenger or Combat. I often like used because....I get it right now with some holsters. The problem here is that I doubt I will see anything come up for a 3" 66, and if I hate what I get, selling it will be equally tough so I wanted some input from those who actually bought a Combat Classic and sold it as to why (belt loop placement, wanted more concealment, quality, etc...), or those who have them and kept them as to what is working out.

I can already tell that with a small belt loop pattern, the belt is critical. It is going on an Ares Aegis, so this is not an issue. This is more of a cover garment/range rig as I will be ordering a IWB holster with it at the same time for t-shirt and shorts carry.

Sorry if this came across as some kind of disparaging Lobo request, as that could not be further from the goal. I want one, I really want one and I want to be a super happy customer. That is why I am putting in the effort to get it right.

I have two of Ray's Combat Classic holsters, and I could not be more pleased. Do remember, I.M.O, these are not DEEP concealment holsters, but are GREAT for discrete carry.

Can you expand on this a little as to what you like, and what options did you order? Thanks:)

Nyeti,
Forgive me if I wasn't clear in my response....I have & like the COMBAT!! My choice was exactly like yours.....I'm retired & didn't want to spend the $$ for something I wouldn't keep! I have a shoulder problem(too many yrs.of lifting weights & martial arts) & carry at the 3 oclock position. No way I will sell trade or get rid of mine....but that's me....you have to do what you feel is rt.

You didn't mind complaining and whining to me over our emails that I changed my holster order. You also whined a lot about not having any time any more, and I forget what else you went on about.

Why not complain here and get it out for everybody?

Given that you wish the capability to carry at 2:00 , and are not a Pancake fan , I suspect that YOU will prefer the Combat Classic .

Whatever doesn't strike your fancy about Pancakes , will probably be partially there in the Avenger , with the trailing second loop. And depending on your exact build , and exact placement of 2:00 carry , the trailing loop could interfere with hip bone.

Well, I see no reason to complain but it might not be a bad idea to share a few thoughts about this business and people in general.

I regularly receive over 18,000 e-mail inquiries per year, about 350 per week on average. I read and reply to every one, which takes 30-plus hours every week (which is in addition to the time spent in production work).

Most people are decent and a pleasure to deal with. Some are not. Some are rude and demanding. Some are threatening. Some are so indecisive they cannot make a choice, or stick with one. A few are so lonely or neurotic they seem to be looking for a pen pal rather than a holster. More than a few people have had their computers hacked by spammers and repeated messages are going out under their names to every e-mail address in their files. I deal with them all one way or another.

When it becomes obvious that a successful business transaction is unlikely I have to shut it down. Sometimes that means cancelling an order and sending a refund of any payments made.

I honestly don't recall what the problem was with your particular order, and it really makes no difference. I don't have to do business with anyone, and when I have decided not to proceed on a particular order that is the end of the matter.

Best regards.
