Local chain has a S&W 6946 under glass w/ 3 mags, worth it for $360? Thoughts on the DAO vs DA/SA models?

No you definitely wouldn't like the full size. I had one. Carried it. Shot it. Trained with it. Then I bought another. Really I can stop whenever I want… just don't want to stop… want another…

Hey all,

My local large chain you'll probably recognize has a Smith & Wesson 6946 for sale for $379.99, but with my veteran discount I can get it 5% off (at least). Comes with 3 mags and rubber grips.

I have no S&W wonder-nines, my S&W collection is currently limited to pinned and recessed 357/38spl wheelguns, but these old heavy autoloaders seem interesting to me. I've also pondered the same shop's Ruger P89 for a similar price but ultimately walked. Curious what you all think of this specimen for the price.

I know its DAO, but have heard that its more like 1.5x a typical SA pull because of the design of the trigger mechanism. Curious again if you all have experience with this model and how you'd compare it to a DA/SA. I'm a big fan of DA/SA guns but am open to trying something new, but not if the consensus is these are a step-down from DA/SA doublestack models, in which case I might continue to keep my eyes peeled for one of those. Any insight or advice is appreciated, thanks all!
Adventure outdoors? I believe i looked at that same gun. Just not a fan of DAO.

I will not own a DAO Handgun. IMO a SA will always be more accurate - I prefer the option anyway.
When I obtained a sleeker, lighter DA/SA Semi Auto, self loader, known for accuracy & dependability THAT CARRIES MORE ROUNDS I ceased carrying a revolver.
IMO, In a Semi auto a DA/SA is the safest way to carry with a round chambered.
Not really one to judge this revolver topic - BUT I recently turned down a deal on a nice .38 Albion Enfield top break COMMANDO snub nose, Revolver - that was a bargain - because I was not sure I'd ever find a spurred hammer for it (which would have milked collector value) BUT i KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE that I'm more accurate with a SA trigger.
Perhaps I missed a good investment ? (made in Scotland as well). BUT NO SA OPTION !

The DAO trigger on my 5943 is a very good DAO trigger. I have a 5904 and I would say that the DAO and DA/SA are both good depending on which one you are used to shooting. In fact, I need to take my 5943 to the range soon as I haven't shot it for a while.
