Been watching this pair for a few weeks.

Just saw a little bit ago they have 2 or 3 eggs now.

The camera quality is fantastic. The pic I posted I took off my PC monitor with my cell phone.

They built their nest in a loud location. Sounds like it's near I-95.

Seems as if the nests are either by a lake or pond or near a roadway... at least from what I've seen in Florida.
A nesting pair for years resided alongside one of the busiest roads in Broward near a primary school.
Haven't heard an update this year, hope they're still around.

All of the eagle nests I've ever seen out west are off the beaten path. Osprey, on the other hand, will nest just about anywhere. There's an Osprey nest in the neighborhood on top of a cell tower that's behind a KFC.

If you check out camera 4 you can get an idea of what the location looks like. The houses in the distance seem to be beach front.

It's definitely near a road. One day there were great multitudes of sirens.

Last year I was watching eagle cams from Big Bear Lake and Catalina Island. They were interesting, both feeds were available on YouTube. In both instances, after eggs had been lain ravens raided the nests and either carried away the eggs in their beaks or pecked the shells open and ate the partially developed chicks. It was heartbreaking to watch, but I guess that is nature.

What I didn't understand is that eagles must know that ravens are their natural enemies, so why did both the male and female eagles leave the nests unattended for long periods of time ? I was hoping to see some aerial combat when an eagle came diving down to tear a raven to shreds and defend his or her eggs but it never happened.

The eagles came back to the nest, saw the eggs were missing or that there was nothing left but broken shells and were looking around like what happened ????

Walter—I was told by an ornithologist once, “ever hear the term “birdbrain!?” I am not sure some birds are the brightest. I think Eagles are use to being the apex predator too.

BTW, I just saw the parents swap out sitting the eggs. I have been lucky—every time I tune in something interesting has happened.

Good fun! I actually have seen golden eagles in combat with ravens. The eagle is like a B-52, while the ravens are like F-16's. No contest in terms of maneuverability. The eagle, while not in any real danger, is just annoyed and has to slowly flap out of range.

In the last few years here, Bald Eagles have set-up nesting on rivers and small lakes alike. It's always a red alert 'there's an eagle" moment when we spot them while fishing. I've tried several times to capture a good eagle photo for sharing, but they seem to move on along all too fast.:)

I found it crazy hard to get a pic of them flying when using a long lens. A long lens has a small field of view, most of the time by the time I found the eagle in the lens it was already back to the nest. I got this one, one day while watching the nest, I thought it was feed up with me watching it for hours and decided to attack.

Here are a few of my favorites out of thousands I took of them.

On the second page of the Spring 2008 gallery I got a set of pictures when another bird decided to come to the nest. I thought it was a hawk, but someone told me it was a young bald eagle. Possibly one of it's offspring. It was a very noisy bird fight, and I was most happy to have captured it.

Up by Port Clinton, Ohio there are many Eagle nests, some of which are visible from Rt. 2. Wife and I love to look for them and Hawks also when driving around.
Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge near Oak harbor, OH has many Bald Eagles and nests that you can see when driving the trails.
Yesterday we saw a Bald Eagle perched in a tree as we were driving to Wellington for lunch. Saw several Red Tailed Hawks too. On the drive back home, the Eagle was still perched in the tree. Beautiful birds.

In Sandusky, OH there is a bar that had an Eagles nest in a tree by the parking lot. A camera was mounted so the nest could be observed on a TV in the bar. When the camera was installed, they found several cat collars in the nest.
Last time I saw the nest, it looked like the eagles had abandoned it.
