London to New York in One Hour, Mach 5

Yea, but then we won't have time to eat the delicious meals and beverages - lol! Can't imagine once that goes commercial what tickets would cost!

One cocktail, that's all you have time for.
I'd need at least three in the preflight lounge before I'd even get on the thing
So did anyone in this thread actually read the article? It says nothing about carrying passengers, or really anything at all about what this craft's mission is. "London to New York in an hour" is simply an example of speed that people can wrap their minds around, as opposed to a goal. It would appear to be nothing more than a concept demonstrator. To quote from the TV series Firefly, "I'm smellin' a lotta 'if' comin' off this plan."
What else other than passenger carry would it be any use for? Military doesn't need a bomber that fast, they have missiles if they need something to deliver a weapon that fast. It's atmospheric, so not like they can go to the moon in it. The picture of its possible appearance looks like some aeronautical design engineer been watching old 1960's "Fireball XL-5" kids' shows. I wonder if they'll launch this new plane like they did in the old TV series.

In the early 90s I and my brother flew from New York to Paris on the Concorde and then again from London to New York. It took an hour and a half to get to Paris and an hour to get to New York.
Accelerating to cruising speed after take off felt kind of strange because the plane flexed a lot, like an arrow being shot from a bow, but as soon as we reached cruising speed everything was extremely smooth.
It's cruising altitude was between 10 and 11 miles which gives you quite a view. :giggle:
