I am posting this with Lee's permission.

A good friend to a lot of us on here (and a long time moderator) Dan Meigs is in bad shape with a debilitating illness. He has been approved for disability but has yet to see any money (typical red tape). He is behind on his finances and can really use some help.

I would not normally ask but Dan has helped a lot of us over the years and it is time to return the favor. Any little bit would help. Even a card or note would be nice at this point

If you can and are willing..........
Thanks for your consideration.

I tell you , when I was going for SSD , it took forever , even disputed it and went to a hearing , disapproved . Then I got an attorney that specializes in SSD . Six weeks later , I got a phone call telling me I was approved , how much I would make , and how much back pay . The moral of my story , tell him to get an attorney that specializes in SSDI . I KNOW what this is like , so PM coming at you !

Sir I back you a 100% in what you say, get a specialized attorney. I have seen stuff like that for years. Some of it in my family!

It also helps to get your congress critters involved in this, many times a call from a congressman's staff can make things move right along.

Best of luck to Dan!

Two years ago, we were devastated by a seemingly unrecoverable disaster. A massive flood caused the sewage back-flow valves to fail. I mentioned it, by phone, to Old Bear and Shoudazagged and within a week over 50 members sent funds, clothing, towels, blankets, toys and Snubby sent me a beer mug and cat treats.

This forum literally bailed us out. I am happy to help however I can.

PM sent.

If Dan got approved He should receive his first check next month on the date that they will normally come.

That's how it worked for me. I filed for SS and SSD when I turned 62. It only took 8 months to be approved for SSD .
They made up the difference in 1 lump sum . I never got a lawyer so it might of been faster if I did.

From the bottom of my heart let me say Thank You to all of you.

I have been pretty absent from the forum for almost a year now, last October 2017 I went into Renal Kidney Failure.I lost my job due to being unable to work and started the process to get Social Security, I made it a year without income but fell short of being able to pay my rent for Sept and October (now taken care of) thanks to my friends.
Social security said they were sending me money October 3rd but then sent me another letter saying that they were holding back that check because I was still being processed for SSI and they didn't want to overpay me, makes no sense to me but then I can be a little thick skulled.

THIS FORUM and it's fine members are the best this world has to offer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart I love you guys and gals

Dan

Ok guys I just emptied my PM box

I am overwhelmed by the response. Thank you all

I talked to Dan last night and here is the scoop. He has had renal failure and has to go on dialysis three times a week. Because of this he is also losing his eye sight. He was on the verge of eviction but we have held that off.

I have been asked if he has a PayPal account and he does not but I do

If you wish to send funds via PP you can send to

Please include a note it's for Dan

We will be sending mail out Monday to Dan. My not always eloquent wife said dummy(she used a different word) the address is on the Ruger forum. No need to respond to the PM I sent.

Donation is in the mail. Dan and I go back a few years to when we attended AZ gun shows together. He has had more than his share of bad luck. Some years ago, when he lived in Tucson with his son, he had a kitchen fire in his apartment which destroyed the residence and wiped out all he had and he barely escaped with only the shirt on his back. His friends got him back on his feet then and he found a job in Washington state and was able to relocate. Dan, you're in my prayers ! Ed.
