Sorry to hear this! I really like this series.
And yes, I am anxious to know what happened at the end of last year.

Too bad...I enjoyed it. Must have been too expensive to produce OR some of the stars wanted big raises.

The only regular series I watch. Figures. and the only show where the lawman carries an interesting gun instead of a Glock or some other modern squirt gun lookin' thing.

Idiots,,,One of the most worthwhile television shows! Wonder what moronic **** they will put in its place?
All I can say to A&E....Losers!

I think we need to start a boycott of the A&E network.;)
Ok now its off my chest!
A&E Losers

That's a bummer, I liked it.

This is disappointing news. August has been a heckuva month all the way around. I wish I could get a do-over on this one!

Wife and I just started watching Longmire a couple of months ago by starting with the first season streamed on Netflix. We just finished season two on Netflix, and intend to wait until it's streamed so we can watch season 3. That there won't be a season four is really bad news.

I love the scenery of the show, and I find myself genuinely caring about the characters. Aside from the fact that in certain camera angles, Robert Taylor has an uncanny resemblance to George W. Bush (my wife disagrees), I think the show is great.

Most all the good shows get canned before their time; it's just a fact of life. Doesn't make it any easier to take, though, especially when considering what's left to watch.

Damn! That was a good watch. It was well written and well acted. So much better than the mindless drivel we are subjected to.

From what I have read, A&E wants more in house "non-scripted" programing. The dumped "The Glades" for the same reason. The producers of Longmire are shopping it around for a new network.

The show and the books....

The show and the books are different, so I'll just have to accept the story line of the books. It will be a few years until I notice it's gone, because we have to wait until it comes to netflix or something to watch it anyway.

Just another sacrifice to ratings. Longmire's Season 3 averages (0.6 in the 18-49 demo, 3.5 million viewers) were down vice Season 2 (0.8 demo, 3.7M). A&E only bought 10 episodes in S3 vice S2's 13... Likely hedging their investment. As others note, A&E is leaning on unscripted shows, and wants in-house productions (Longmire is produced by Warner Horizon) - both of which are better for their profit margins. Let's hope TNT picks up S4. Longmire is a better match for TNT's demos, and they've worked with Warner for decades. (Rizzioli & Isles, and the Dallas remake are both Warner series on TNT.)
