Longmire

For a tiny city they have a lot of murders.

Same issue with Midsomer Murders and other shows that are set in rural towns and counties. By the time season five or six rolls around everybody in town would either be dead or in jail.

Since this is the S&W Forum:

One thing I wish they had carried over from the books to the show is the old sheriff Lucian Connally’s choice of gun:

In the various flashbacks when he is still working, he carries an old Victory model, clearly described down to the swivel.

Although, the single-action revolver that Peter Weller does get to use in that role fits the character pretty well too.

In Season 3 episode 5 Walt recruits Lucian Connally out of assisted living. Walt wants Lucian Connally's help finding the killer of the hired killer who murdered his wife in Denver. When Lucian Connally gets his Single Action Army out of his wall safe he first takes out a S&W revolver, handles it briefly without taking it out of its holster, then puts it back and takes out and loads his Single Action Army. Connally's S&W was not forgotten. I suspect the director thought a SAA would make the old sheriff character look like more of an old timer.

Watched them all.
Walt cocking his .45 after it was already cocked got tiresome, but consider the source?
Great series anyway!
Go ahead and research "Fenn's treasure" so you'll know what they're talking about later in the series.

Well.....I watched the last episode the other day. It was kind of a let down. It did resolve a few things. Shame it couldn't have made a few more seasons.

My wife thought that I was all set to move to Wyoming until I told her that the series was shot in New Mexico :D Now we have a road trip to see the northern part of the state and the cabin in Calderas Park.

Read the books then watched the show over the past few months. I can't recall a series that was set up so finely by an author just in the first story.
Enjoyed the TV program on Netflix once the noticeable character differences wore off except for when Walt would sit around at the end like Miss Marple chatting as he fingered the culprit.
Graham Greene does his usual fine job as Malachi and throws PC out the window with his summation of the plight of the Tribes beginning with "Waah, waah, waah...".

Second show I watched that used the name Absaroka. In Longmire, its Absaroka County. In reality, its a mountain range in Montana and the locals pronounce it ab-sohr-kee. Nothing like its spelled.

The Absaroka range extends into Wyoming, too.
In the show Absaroka is county 24 (as shown on the vehicle license plates). Wyoming only has 23 counties, but Cody, Wyoming is in Park County (county 11) which is mentioned in his books.
Absaroka Range - Wikipedia.
