Have your ever had an itch that you can't scratch?

Well one of mine has been finding a 1917 locally in decent condition that I could afford. This week I had the opportunity to scratch my itch in a most unexpected manner. I finished some work for a feller and when he came over to pick up the finished project we got to visiting about guns in general and vintage pistols in particular. One thing led to another and when it was all said and done he went home tickled with how well his scratched up single action had turned out and I was left to spend some quality time with a slightly used Model 22-4 which came into my possession complete with plastic case, paper work, factory fired case and a small zip lock envelop with some moon clips.

Jeepers is this a nice pistola!

Once it warms up a bit I'm headed to our local range to see what she can do with a small assortment of factory loads and some of my cast bullet reloads. I've been on a 1911 kick ever since our local CAS club start getting serious about incorporating Wild Bunch shooting into our summer schedule. The only problem is that trying to keep in shooting form over the winter months leads to losing a lot of brass in the snow. At least with this revolver that won't be an issue.

All fired up about this new acquisition and figuring that I as on a roll, I went ahead and called Pacific Canvas and Leather today and ordered a repo holster and a half-moon clip pouch. To complete my rig, I believe I need to find a web Mills belt but I'm having a heck of a time finding one. If anyone could provide some leads, I would appreciate it.

45 revolver fever has done took another victim.

That's a beauty, have fun.

I have one like it in nickel, and it's a favorite. I shoot it and an original 1917 side-by-side, and they're more fun than the law allows. The .45ACP recoil in that N frame is almost like .38 wadcutters.

You might enjoy that one a bit more, if you get some decent stocks on it. Those on there now aren't much fun for longer range sessions. I put a set of Ahrends on mine, and often use Pachmayr Presentations.

Good luck. Now, you're hooked! :) :) :)

That is a real beauty!

Congratulations and best of luck with it!

Thanks for the replies fellers!
Geronimo: We're thinking of including 1917 revolvers in our WB categories.
D the B: The fellow I got it from mentioned the same thing. I think I have a pair of Pachmayrs stashed away in the shop somewhere. Guess I'd better root them out.

Wow that's sharp looking! Pardon my ignorance on the newer guns, but are those the stocks the factory put on the gun. If yes, I'm rather impressed.
