They are great revolvers for target shooting and you got it at a fair price. Since prices tend to rise above what I experienced it might be a great price.

Opinions:
1. That's a really nice revolver.
2. It will make a great shooter.
3. $500 is a fair price.
4. I think you did well.

Facts:
1. It's cosmetically in excellent condition.
2. Serial # 14K0XXX dates to about 1977.
3. The 14-3 was produced circa 1967-1977.

If I did not already have 1, I could not have left it either! Mine is a dash 3 from 1977. The 14 is 1 of Smith's under-rated, under-valued revolvers. (my opinion! who asked for it? Right? ) You are sure to enjoy shooting it. Bob

Great price for a great piece. I bought one in January. My first revolver. It is extremely accurate, the trigger is fantastic, it's fun to shoot, and a definite keeper. Enjoy! (and I paid $100 more for the pleasure of owning it!)
