As promised here are more pics of the K22 Outdoorsman that followed me home this month, SN 6390XX. SCSW puts the manufacture date somewhere in '31-'32. It's in great shape and all numbers match to include the stocks. It has an Ivory bead front sight instead of a gold bead. All in all, it's in great shape.

Yes his smile is quite large when I come in. He texted me yesterday concerning two four-inch M19-3's that came in this week. I have both on hold until the first of the month

Dang the K-22 looks like it's in great shape as well, and nice pics to boot. Those are worthy of keeping for archival purposes. Thanks for posting them.

Have you thought about getting the factory letters for these outstanding specimens? I know a lot of guys will say it's a waste of money for guns that aren't suspected of having some unusual history, but I think they're nice to have just to satisfy my idle curiosity if nothing else.

That is a terrific find........a K22 Outdoorsman, 1st Model AND the rest being icing on the cake!

My 1st Model K22 is a slightly lower s/n (637749) than yours but with S & W only Roy and his records know whose shipped when.

Mine letters as shipping November 29, 1931. If yours has Ivory bead front sight it may well be very worth a Letter because according to my Letter (copy attached) there was an engineering change on September 16, 1931 changing the Call Gold to Call stainless steel bead. Interesting is that Roy states that the change was incorporated December 1931 to January 1932. Mine shipped end of November 1931 and does have the Call stainless front sight.

Yours may have been a "special order" for the Ivory bead.

Like others have said...I like to letter some of my Smiths that I feel are "special" to me....just to satisfy my curiosity.

You do have a beautiful collection....and all in one stop, amazing.

I would not hold my breath waiting for an answer. At least that would be the case if that little gold mine was in my neck of the woods. Sorry, just sayin........
