The last 41 I had was about 25yrs ago, and I always wanted another one, this deal came along and I could not pass it up. I bought it off a friend for $650, it has had one mag shot thru it since new in 2002. Just a couple of quick questions for you guys. The barrel fits extremely tight in the frame, the trigger guard is very hard to push back up, is this normal for a new 41? Also, I'm not too fond of the thumb rest stocks, any recommendations on some nice flat checkered ones? Thanks.

By coincidence I just bought one brand new and noticed the same "problems": trigger guard hard to push up, barrel fits very tightly. I haven't fired mine yet (will in about an hour) and last night I gave it a thorough cleaning. I was surprised at how filthy the gun was. All of the interior parts, and a good bit of the exterior, too, were caked with a heavy brown substance which I surmise was dried lubricant. After a lot of elbow grease I found that everything went back together a lot more easily. My guess is that the gun had been sitting in inventory for a few months and that the factory lubricant had dried out.

Great find for $650 - I havn't seen too much in the way of aftermarket grips for them, mostly similar style bullseye target type grips

I have a nice set of Herret grips in the configuration you want.
I'll send you pics ASAP

Yes, I think so. Mine was quite tight the first few times I put the barrel back on. It loosens up nicely with use.

+1 on the Herrett Stocks.

Good Luck...

Joe

That is a good looking gun. The more I see Model 41's the more I'm thinking how much fun it would be to have one and how much more shooting I would do with it since ammo prices wouldn't be a factor. Congrats on a great buy.
