Looking for a decent reasonably priced case trimmer

I use a Lyman Case Prep Station with a Lee 8-32 threaded cutter with the case length gage installed in one of the positions. I lock the shell holder into a pair of small visegrips and the stud is put on a bit driver handle. It is much easier on the hands and fingers to tighten/loosen each piece of brass. I can trim, chamfer and debur as well as flashhole debur, remove case then use the primer pocket uniform bit to clean the primer pocket.

The case prep stations go for about $100 give or take(got mine off Amazon as a refurbish unit for $85 in 2015), the Lee threaded cutter is under $10 and the Lee shell holder and length gage for your caliber about $5. I think I paid $5 for the small visegrips and a few dollars for a bit handle. I can get a good flow going and do atleast 100 per hour and get consistant trim lengths/

Geesh, I am surprised no one has said this yet!!:D

Always get Dillon regardless of your needs or budget.

Press, dies, shop vac are additional!

Maybe even "better" would be the GTC!!

I don't need an expensive high speed power trimmer but would like to get something that actually works. And now the killer, I'd like to get one at a reasonable price. Wilson and Forster got great reviews but after purchasing the trimmer I would end up having to buy more stuff to go along with them and the price starts going up. Any suggestions?

Don't think either meet the OP's requirements price wise.

Holy Crapo... Those things have really gotten expensive haven't they? My Dillon(model 1200) cost me a whole 50 bucks at an auction...the Giraud 3 times that....That said I can tell you in the past I trimmed thousands of cases wit the Lee hand trimmers...They work and work well. They are just too hard on my old (kinda) arthritic hands...So I'd look on fleabay for a good used manual trimmer by either RCBS or Lyman. This evening all of my Lee trimmers are going on there in one batch. As far as handgun cases the only straight ones I can remember stretching were some 357 mag cases years back

I hear that quite often from guys who have purchased Dillon themselves. However, over the last few years I have loaded easily over 30,000 rounds on my lowly Lee Turret press and I'm willing to bet I've had just as much fun firing those rounds off as anyone else regardless of what they own. While I'm sure that, based on owner raves, Dillon must make wonderful equipment I think I would be foolish to spend more than I need to for something that will do more than I require of it. Not knocking anyone else's choices just saying that not everyone has a need for it.

I'm so used to hearing that from guys who ponied up the bucks for a Dillon that I didn't even notice the grinning faces. I get it now.

I keep seeing people making snide or worse comments about "Dillon ownes". I AM a Dillon owner...along with most other brands of reloading equipment including Lee...so I just have to say something like the naysayers do...with BIG smilie faces:D:D.. I hope you guys are not as cheap with your firearm purchases and do buy a S&W every now and then rather than those utilitatian FIEs that work almost as well:D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes:

This truly was posted in jest guys. Don't get fired up...even if it hit too close to the truth!!:p:eek:

Looks like we may all be drifting off course here just a bit. My only intention was to get some product advice and not to crucify anyone for their choices in equipment. I do appreciate all the advice given and hope to get more on other subjects in the future as well.

I do hope you found what you needed for trimming. It truly is a kind of onerous job. Probably the worst part of reloading but it does make for more consistent ammo in my opinion. And I do like consistency even with handgun ammo. What ever your choice for equipment is I think you will continue to have fun shooting up that ammo. Main reason for doing all that work reloading

Well as we just met, I do not really what to play I'' show you mine if you show me yours:D

But I spent all my money on firearms and not expensive reloading toys, so mine are more and better!:D

Ever notice that no one posts on the Dillon Forum how great their Dillon stuff is?
It because it is all a big club house and everyone has the same stuff.:D

SEE POST #6

I started with some of the Lee finger breakers then got a RCBS trimmer. Works for me, The OP needs to decide himself.

The only thing Dillon that I have is the Magazine that comes and I bought a Eliminator Scale (Ohaus) years ago) that's all the blue.

I also used the lee trimmers and file trim dies at first then also got a RCBS trimmer. I wouldn't have gotten the Dillon or the Giraud but for the purchase at an auction...cheap and the fact that I was in the process of loading a large lot of 223 at the time. The Giraud is actually easier than the Dillon to use. Easier than any other I have used. As far as reloading presses...I bought most of the Dillons and Reddings etc at auctions and estate sales. Oh and at gun shows...usually at a fraction of their original cost. The reason I purchase Dillon is because they do work better than most other machines...including my Lee machines. To be honest I also like my pretty new Lee Classic cast press as well as I do my Rockchucker.
